Acidburn's 2.5TDi Project

Looking good, been a while since i've been on here properly to post, i'd heard mention of this as i'm currently putting a s2 avant back together from kit form and one engine we looked at was a 20v 7a in the end deciding that a 2.5tdi would be abit different after hearing you're going this route.

Hope it goes well and look forward to seeing it progress.

Yeah got nearly everything for it including rims and suspension/running gear. Just waiting on the guy to source a engine and loom then its bolt everything in and hope for the best.

I was quite surprised to get a email about this:

not strictly my project but here goes as i'm helping build it up with a mate

It was a bare stripped shell as it was stripped because its worth more in parts than a whole.

started rewiring it - 2hrs later the car had the loom in it

sorry for the order. Car has had more done to it since. Got nearly everything for it except for engine/loom. Got sunroof panel back in, door cards on etc.

I like the look of this project acidburn, Like to see how it goes from diesel to petrol! If i had time and money i would like to get a coupe quattro and put a 2.5tdi engine in that. You have the looks, the go, and the fuel economy, and quattro, what more do you need! Keep us posted with plenty of pics and info.

Can you post up some info about the project? What engine goes in 116hp or the 140hp one? What gearbox?Is it a long one or shorter?

170bhp remapped 2.5tdi red i engine, 3b s2 gearbox with aby rear diff and 5 stud hubs etc.

longer ratio's one will see how it gets on with that, if any problems will go either aby 6 speed or 20v, its not my project tho, I just seem to be doing everything on it.

box was cheap lol, it came from my ex s2 3b as I don't own that car anymore its getting turned into a track toy back where I purchased it from.

Going to see how this box handles it but only issue I can see is super long 3rd gear which should not be too much of an issue, plus changing a box won't be a pita.

I'm just waiting for the guy to get hold of a engine/loom then will get the loom in and carry on with the interior which is nearly ready to go back in. Have got 99% of the parts so far. cleaning up the suspension over the next few weekends then bolting it all up. The owner has just started to change his job so will have time to work on it.

Is the 3B front diff a match for the ABY rear?

yes the 3b gearbox will work with the aby rear diff both are the same.

Sorry there has been no updates, due to the person who owns the car not keeping up with rent on the lockup the car is no longer in there, we put it back together so it was rolling then he tried towing it but he'd not bothered putting in the driveshafts so it nearly pulled the bearings/hubs apart. In the end he managed to get it to his mums driveway and promptly put it up on breeze blocks and took the wheels off it (his mums not happy its a reasonably posh area) and thats the last I heard of it as I don't hear from him much now. If I hear anything i'll update it, any further questions just send me a message and i'll reply asap Very Happy
