Thought id put a few pics up of my current project.
This turned up literally on my doorstep a few mths ago (well 18 miles away) A friend of mine told me about a red audi cab for sale near me, wasnt really interested as i already had a cab that was stripped ready to start rebuilding. I went to have a look anyway and was very glad i did.
Ordered from the dealer with a full options list it started life as a 2wd 2.6 v6 manual. After a year of ownership it was sent to Kim Collins to be converted to 20vt quattro.
It was then Fitted with an 97 s6 aan mated to an s2 aby 6speed box and 3b quattro drivetrain.
Its got full history including original order form and bill of sale as well as all the documentation regarding the conversion. In the first 3 yrs the original owner spent over 50k buying the car and then having the conversion done.
At present its done a little over 65k and is in good shape. Theres some cosmetic damage to the drivers rear quarter thatll hopefully be sorted relatively soon (when i find a bodyshop i can trust)
Theres quite a few bits and peices that im not happy that were (or more importantly not done) in the original conversion. No diff lock, still using v6 clocks, small kenlowe fan has literally been shoved in place (but it does the job) its still 4-stud and some of the underbonnet pipework is er....agricultural to say the least:coocoo:
Anyway heres a couple of pics...

Cheers
Gav

the carpet is still in the car mate, i havent really got time to take it out this arvo though im afraid.
It will need a bloody good clean as the car has had water ingress somewhere. it should come up ok after a good clean and its yours for free if you want it. you could have checked it out on thursday had i known you were coming past this way. i'm just a couple of miles off the M6 and M1. bowskill told me you stopped off at his on your travels.
I spoke to simon and he's going to let me know when his bumper is available, so cheers for that. I'll hold on for that one i think. Wink

What a fantastic car. I would be very interested to see pics of the underside to see how they went about the quattro conversion. Surely all the bits should be there to make the diff lock work, well most of the bits anyway.

Really like it! Cool

once i get the interior back in im going to be paying a visit to my mates garage and borrow his 4 post lift so i can have a pole around. Ive had a quick look and the exhaust alone looks amazing. Twin box 2.75" with a single sports cat originally made by cheeseman engineering for the original conversion.
No idea what bits are there and what arent yet. According to the receipt it used the drivetrain and rear boot floor from a 3b s2.
Once i get it up in the air ill get some pics

Not as easily as a B4, whereas the B4 doesn't require chopping, the Cabbies and Coupe do.

bikerjim wrote:

Yeah, not exactly the same, but not a million miles away Smile

Am I right in saying this little beauty has the rear end of a Coupe quattro welded in Gav, if done by Kim Collins that'd compute as I remember the tuned ruby red version he made.
Pity it's not on his site anymore, made for a good read.

What's your plans for it Gav, after you've done what you are on with?
Leave as is and enjoy, or something more?

Jase..
Cool

the cab has more in common with the b3's however its still completely different to the saloon or coupe when you get under the skin.
Apparently kim still has his ruby red rs2 one. This was another he built. Stacks of history with it and makes for a really interesting read. Would love to find out more info on the actual build and photos if possible.
At the moment ive sourced some elipsoids which will be going on this weekend Very Happy If i get time the new interior will be going in this weekend and then i might actually be able to drive it Laughing Very Happy
Then itll be off to the bodyshop to get the rear quarter repaired and the new facelift bootlid fitted.
After that ittl be tidying up some of the bits with the conversion im not happy with and making it more OE
Long term i have a plan on how id like it to turn out but thats a long way off yet and we have a baby on way. Im hoping i can keep it long term as i see it has so much potential but time will tell i guess. Cool

Late bootlid the one with the third brake light in it? or is there some other difference?
If you ever come across a half decent rear number plate surround from a cabby, give me a shout matey. I'd love to see if it'll fit on the B4 saloon, the 90 panel will not fit, BTDT.

Will we see her at any shows this year Gav, Stanford Hall maybe? Very Happy

Jase..

yep the only difference is the third brake light. Will let you know r.e number plate surround. Ive got a cracked one sat here you can have to use to bugger around with to see if itll physically fit if you like? Im pretty sure they do fit.
Hoping to be at stanford hall but doublt itll be back from the bodyshop by then (having said that ive not even found a bdyshop im happy with yet so it might not have even been started on by then)

Hope you can make it matey, be good to catch up.
The S2cab would be a good crowd puller too Very Happy

If you do go, the rear panel would be good, I don't think sending it in the post would be a good idea, I'd end up with a cabriolet flavoured packet of crisps Rolling Eyes
