Nope never heard/seen of a 20v avant in the UK, given the game away?
I have a pal with a 2.6quattro avant, i believe they are like rocking horse poop, i think Audi missed a BIG hole in the market there.

1 or 2 german examples.. oh i am envious!
Its not one of mine, the first page of pictures when you type "huffing child" into google images! |

A few folk will know by now that I am in the process of obtaining another car. Notably, an 80 quattro Avant into which will go the 7A engine that was lined up for Titan.
Although Titan has done superbly well over the xmas period and hasn't got stuck once, I really did miss the security of quattro. It really is true, once you've had quattro, you never want to be without it!
Anyway, that will be the subject of a new thread.
What I have now is the dilemma of what to do with Titan? The bumpers will be repainted and transferred to the new car as will the alloys and the sports steering wheel. I still have the original front bumper and may also fit the one off the Avant as then it can retain the foglights that I wired in.
I did think of scrapping it and keeping the parts I could make use of and selling the rest. However, it does seem a shame to break a car that is still running OK. Yes it uses a bit of oil now (although there is no smoke) and yes it's a 1.6 4 pot with 156,000 miles on it but it's still starting first time every morning (even when it was -10) and still returns 30+mpg to and from work.
Someone has suggested that I should sell it as a runner as they felt it would be worth £300 - 400!!! I'm not sure how much he'd been drinking when he came up with that figure but I would appreciate folks thoughs.... (except Megsy as I already know what he'll say ) |

Owen, as discussed on the 'phone, you can't scrap it!
Even if you return it towards standard (original bumpers etc) and transfer the nice bits of kit to your new toy, it'll still leave a bloody solid car that has proven to be reliable, so its got to be worth a few hundred quid to someone for a run-around or winter hack perhaps?
In the meantime, you'll need it while the Nogsport conversion is underway - and I look forward to seeing and reading all about that in a new thread!
- so I'll have my camera ready when you come to collect the donor car..... |

Got some pics of the 7A going on the stand last weekend so yes, please have the Camera ready
I would like to see Titan go to someone who could use it. It has been reliable, particularly over the winter.
Will have to see if anyone is interested when I'm ready to part with it |

Just as a laugh, fed the details of the Std Titan into webuyanycar.com and they have estimated it at £225!!!!
Might well advertise it rather than break it once the new car is ready. |

Spoke to Peter @ Stirling Audi yesterday to get some essentials for the new project (Thanks Peter) and popped over to see Mike today as he kindly collected them while he was there yesterday (Thanks Mike).
Titan had a good run over even getting the better of a complete c**k in a Q5!! (Sorry to say that Clarkson is right, many drivers of new Audi's are c**ks )
However, on the way back, driving up the badly broken up M90, a stone hit the top of the windscreen and chipped it. This has developed into a 3" crack by the time I got home
It did beg the question, do I call time on Titan or get the Windscreen replaced (bearing in mind I will probably only run Titan for another couple of months, hopefully). However, after the service it's given me, I decided to go ahead andf arrange the repair so Titan will be getting a new windscreen next week!
UK roads strike again! |

Well, this weekend will probably see the end of this project. The MOT and insurance is up early next week and I am not planning on renewing either. Instead I will keep the dosh for the new car.
Titan has been (and still is) 100% reliable but is using oil now (about a litre in 800 miles), even though there is no smoke cloud and no leaks either. However, using that much, I am not sure it would pass emissions hence my decision.
The bumpers, alloys, steering wheel, gauge pod, etc. will find their way onto the new car. However, before I strip it to bit, if anyone is interested in it as a project / runnable car, please shout quick.
I still have the original bumpers and would also let the exhaust go with it as it will be of little use on the Avant Q. It also has a brand new windscreen.
I am quite surprised but I will be sad when it goes as it has never let me down. |
