Hi guys, seeing as JIMDOLLAR has brought up the subject of bulbs a few posts below, can anyone please tell me where the bloody hell i can get a bulb for the hazard switch on my Coupe. Evil or Very Mad
I'm 'in the trade' and i actually sell LUCAS bulbs,i know the bulb is a '286' but its only 12v 0.8w,none of the '286' range is 12v 0.8w.I've tried a standard 286 ( 12v 1.2w )but this makes the switch very bright and hot.I've been to Audi and they don't do,i think i've managed to find a Audi number for one,but again this is is 12v 1.0w.I've asked loads of my customers, and no one can come up with this bulb.Any thoughts guys? Wink

If you can't get the right bulb, note that some of the last of the B4's had switches with LEDs in them, rather than bulbs, so no more trouble with blowing bulbs.

All of the versions of the hazard switch still have a bulb for the flashing action, but the later ones have an LED for the dash-illumination light.

Also note that the plug and pinout layouts on the rear of some of the switches did change for the last few years (eg: The Heated Rear Window circuit changed for '94, due to it being timed), so not all switches will fit in any B4, but, for example, I can confirm that it is possible to get all-LED switches for a '93 car, because mine now has them, thanks to a few trips to the breakers yard.

Just to revisit this thread

While browsing through part numbers, you can get the 0.8w 12v bulbs from Audi

part number is 8A0 919 062

How much brighter??????? Remember the hazards light are supposed to be brighter so they are easier to find in a "hazard"
As far as I remember I havent changed hazard bulb and it is defniatly brighter than others, not so much as distracting but enough to identify it in an emergency. Because thats what it is... an emergancy button.
