Hi,

I wonder why my climate control unit is very unresponsive to my touching, so it doesn´t get instructions to turn off or on, or to decrease/increase heat and ventilation.
Sometimes I have to press it harder and after a few attempts it manages to work. But lately it feels like it´s stuck...and doesn´t respond.
It turns on, the ventilation is working, etc, but I can´t change parameters.
I can see the temperature and all info, but I can´t turn it up or down.
If it is stuck at maximum, it will remain there.

I took it out, gave it a good clean, but didn´t work. By the way I have re-soldered the typical male/female connector.

Also, another questions guys : Does the Audi A4 B5 (1.9Tdi) climate control unit work in a C4? It seems to have the same plugs in the back, the same shape, etc.
Has anyone tried ?

Cheers everyone Smile

Hi,
OK, nobody has answered, but here it goes. I hope it will be helpful for other Audi member that sooner or later will have this issue in the Climate control unit.

What I did :

- Remove the Climate control unit
- Open unit
- Disconnect cable
- Re-solder the "socket" pins where the main cable will attach.
- When re-assembling, use some "foam" pieces (not excessively large or big) in the back of the PCB board so that the PCB board will be pressed forward after put back into the Clima control unit "BOX" and this is create a pressure against the buttons and this way the buttons will become responsive as they will now touch the pcb board. So, everything needs to be a bit tight.

Note : Them foam must not be placed in the "air vents" of the climate control unit box. It should let the box breathe.

And that´s it. All is working again.

Hi,
You´re right, seems a bit quiet.

My Audi A6 sadly was sold last week. Been 6 years with me, but I was only making 1K miles a year or so (except first year of ownership), because I have a company car since. So I decided to let her go.

Nevertheless, I´ll keep participating whenever I can.

Also, I will keep doing chip tunning to this engines as I did with mine. Makes a difference ! Very Happy

Hi,
I haven´t got a single spare...!!
The only thing I can sell for this cars and engines, are ECU remaps. I do them very often. Mine has been remaped about 30 times. Not to achieve massive HP, but I could do it if needed, hehe.

It´s a shame and I had a hard time seeing her go. I am not so sure the new owner will treat her so well as I did. It was immaculate inside. But Needed a new paint job. I loved to driver her and few people actually know it´s such a pleasant, comfortable and roomy car. They just look and say it´s old, etc...

Laughing

Hiya,

Don't get on here much, but that's largely due to the mostly faultless behavior of my A6, and the lack of time I have to fix it when it does go wrong.

thanks for sharing your experiences though, it's on my list of little niggles..

I wish I still had mine as well.
I loved the Audi, but wasn´t driving her on a daily basis. So, she had to go.

Eveytime I see one, I always look closer

Mine needs to last another year or two, but apart from the rot on the front arches, I can't fault it. It just keeps on passing MOTs.
