Tappet

Serviced my 2.5tdi last weekend. Usual procedure, Wynnns engine flush, change filter, re-fill oil. No problem.
Was OK for 2 days then, my wife came home with the engine knocking. My initial thought was a Tappet, but then thought the noise was too loud and could be a big end bearing.
Went into my local menders and he confirmed a Tappet had collapsed, brought on by the oil flush/change.
He said while it was in bits did I want all 12 (one side) changing and the cam followers too. The cam was OK so told him to go ahead. Tappets about a tenner each, and the followers too.

With the labour charge, and bearing in mind he is an independent VAG specialist, the bill was in the region of £600.
The V6 engine is all well and good, but to do anything to it requires a front end strip and labour charges and VAT are exorbitant.
