ALMS: Record series for JJ Lehto and Marco Werner
SPEEDGT: Audi driver Pobst narrowly misses win
DTM: Ekström wants championship lead back
ALMS: The Audi drivers JJ Lehto and Marco Werner have set a new record following their victory at the fifth round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) in Portland (USA): A driver team has previously never managed to win four races in succession in the North American race series. However, the German-Finnish duo had to work hard for this victory: Lehto had to sit out a stop-and-go penalty after a collision during the opening stages of the race, but fought his way back to the head of the field after a few laps in the Team ADT Champion Racing Audi R8. Lehto and Werner sit unchallenged at the top of the leader board in the overall classification 30 points ahead.
SPEED GT: Audi driver Randy Pobst narrowly missed victory at the fifth round of the North American SPEED GT World Challenge. The defending champion finished second in the Audi RS6 Competition after 31 flawless laps in Portland and, as a result, took fourth place in the championship. Michael Galati made an impressive fight back in the sister car: He was forced to start the race from the back of the grid in the spare car because of electrical problems, on the first lap he had already carved his way up to sixth place. Galati took the chequered flag in ninth place.
DTM: The second half of the season starts for the DTM next weekend in Germany only two weeks after the Asian invitation race in Shanghai. Audi works driver Mattias Ekström travels to the Nürburgring with only a three point deficit to front runner Christijan Albers and wants to take the championship lead back for Audi. The omens look good: Three of the previous five DTM races held at the Nürburgring ended in victories for Audi. It would appear that the fans are already looking forward to the duel between Ekström and Albers: In the week before the race more than 36,000 tickets were sold.
