“Best All-Wheel-Drive Cars of 2004”

Audi A8 and Audi A3 are the best “All-Wheel-Drive Cars of 2004”. More than 14,000 readers took part in the poll conducted by “AUTO BILD alles allrad”, Europe's most popular all-wheel-drive magazine – with fantastic results for the Audi brand: first place for the Audi A3 in the category
“All-Wheel-Drive Car in the Compact Class”, first place for the Audi A8 in the category “All-Wheel-Drive Car in the Luxury Class”, followed by the Audi RS 6 in second place. The Audi A4 and Audi A6 also made it on to the podium in the “Mid-Size Class”. No other manufacturer was as successful as Audi in the “AUTO BILD alles allrad” readers' poll.

This is the second year in a row that the readers of “AUTO BILD alles allrad” have chosen the Audi A8 with its standard quattro permanent all-wheel drive as their favourite.

The Audi A3 quattro defines the standard in the premium compact class: its permanent all-wheel drive converts the power of the top-of-the-range A3 model, which has a capacity of 3.2 litres and 250 bhp of output, into forward movement with maximum efficiency. Another version of the A3 with quattro drive, the
140 bhp Audi A3 2.0 TDI, will be launched in the second half of 2004.

The magazine publisher's managing director Dr. Hans H. Hamer and editor-in-chief Bernhard Weinbacher presented the awards to Dr. Horst Glaser, Head of Chassis Development at AUDI AG, and Reinhard Gesenhaus, Head of Transmission Development at AUDI AG, during the Auto Mobil International (AMI) fair in Leipzig.
