AEL TDi belt tensioner needed

Hello
I have a 1996 AEL 2.5 TDi motor in my Vanagon Syncro:

It appears the pictured belt tensioner is broken.

I pushed the spring into a straight position for the photo, green arrow.

but it actually sits in this bent position, red arrow.

can anyone suggest a source for the part, and also the correct name of it?
