I have a 1998 2.8 Cabrio. and the water temp gauge in the main dash only works about 15% of the time! - would appreciate a steer around what to check and where etc.

eg.-is the sender located down low on the radiator LHS when standing in front of car-or is that for something else?-if this is the sender how does the cable disconnect and how to test??
Is it a direct connection sender to meter or is there another module involved???

Also have a bulb out on the low down voltmeter-can`t see how to access this gauge cluster.
(I have just spotted the `sticky` on this very subject-thx)

Any advice most welcome -thanks

I had the same problem with my water gauge a couple of years ago, and found out it was just a bad earth, i took the main dash out and found all the small nuts holding the circut board onto the back of the dash slack, so i tightened them all up and since then has worked perfect Smile
As for the light in the bottom cluster never had to take that apart yet
Would try the above first before getting to deep into it as its just a 5min job to take dash out
