Roof lining

Hi all , Im just getting to grips with the car I have bought and sussing out all the annoying things that need sorting, not knowing much about the way the head lining is attached I found two strings on springs on the rear sides not connected to anything, should these be attached to the two eyelets on the inside of the roof ??. Also seems like some of the elasticated straps have broken and some are not even there, are there any top tips on what to use to replace these. thanks in advance for any info Smile

Yes these should be connected. There are six spring straps (three on each side) and four tension straps (two on each side). I have pictures of how they connect but just moved house and can not connect to my server to post the pictures.

Does anyone know if the picture gallery is still working?

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I also need an answer to this problem!

Has anyone done any different fixings, or pics on the best way to repair them, as some of the elastic is rivited on?

i recently attached a couple of the strings on my soft-top.......the eyelets are guide holes for the strings to run through. the strings should be attached to the inner lining of the roof and as the roof retracts, it pulls the inner lining in a correct manner so that it all folds correctly into the boot. i live in nottingham so if you live nearby, you are welcome to come check mine out to double check the exact running of the strings as they are quite fiddly. i found it best to have the roof either 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 down to work on it. hope this helps Smile

Hi everyone,
I've also got this problem with the two "strings" no longer being attached at the sides - does anyone have any pictures they could post of how they're supposed to run. I can't see where they should attach to either.
