Hi there,

Just looking for any advice on my Avant. When the car is stood still my idle wonders slightly and id like to get to the bottom of why this is happening?

Also ive got the issue which is mentioned on this forum a few times which is at around 3k revs and in 3rd or 4th gear my Audi hits a bit wall and feels my turbo is cutting out. I have good knowledge of the Vacuum system and for piece of mind ive replaced a faulty vacuum pump, EGR Valve, N75 Solonoid and Control unit along with the MAF sensor. So my thoughts are its either the Turbo has a fault? Possible Wastegate stuck open? or one if not both of my Cats are chocked up with soot? As much as i love this car this brick wall effect is really spoiling my driving expierience and ive even thought of flogging it even though its only done 128k.

Any help would be great.

Chris

Hi Chris.
Idle problem will moat likely be mixture too weak. You need vagcom to check it. Mg/per stroke is the measuring block. Should be 4.0.

Other fault is blocked cats. Just remove the innards. No mot problem as they can't test a diesel cat.
It will smoke like hell as the soot will be built up from lack of air speed through the system. Soon goes.

My idle would wander a bit and i fixed it buy doing the EGR blanking plate or disconnect the vacuum to the EGR / block it up

Its a quick way to test that the EGR is causing it or not

When you hover over the block the full vagcom version gives you the value it should be.

I am having idle issues with an a6 of mine(only done 100k and has been off the road for a couple of years until i got hold of it),all the info I can find on the net refers to the mg/str being around zero and no more than plus or minus 2 from each other. It sits at between 756 and 730rpm,doesn't sound much but is very annoying, changes speed about every 7 seconds or so.No fault codes are stored, can anyone shed anymore light on this?

I am not sure we are talking about the same block here as my other a6 sits around zero also and another one I was working on last week.

I think I have found the problem with mine, minute metal fragments in the injector pump. Apparently they can collect on 2 magnets inside the top cover and cause my exact problem. Will take it apart in the next few days

Block set 13 compares all injectors to #3.

Surely mg/stroke , -IQ#'s are around block sets 7-9???????
