So I think I should be investigating or thinking about a valve seal replacement, because my oil consumption went down after replacing an oil membrane in the camshat housing, but itīs still quite high and I see a bit of white smoke when the car is at idle for a long time.
Does smell a little like unburnt diesel maybe, but oil indicator is a sign and my timing is within specs. Starts 1st time always.
Does anyone have ever performed this job or know where they are located?
In some cars, itīs kind of simple (using a compressor via glow plug to hold the piston up).
Is it easy on the AAT / AEL ?

Doesnīt look too hard to perform. I just thought I could use the rope trick, but apparently itīs not suitable for TDI engines.
Also, the compression pipe into the glow plug hole... iīm not seeing how I can fabricate one.
All other manufactured parts look easy to fabricate.
So, basically the valve stem seals are two tiny pieces that "connect" to each other, side-by-side. Thatīs why Bladerunner used grease, to let them in place while he slide the spring up back into place.
To hold the first of the two little pieces, he used a magnet just to hold it in place, while the second one was being put in there ? Or the magnet is just to remove the seal and avoiding it to fall into the cavernous side of the engne ? lol
Is also looks like the valve seals are removed and place while the spring is under compression with the tool over it, making downforce. Am I Right ? Looks too tight..
No the 2 bits of metal that connect together arent the valve seals, they are retaining collets that hold the spring cap to the valve, the valve seals are usually a small plastic/rubber cap that will sit over the top of the valve guide or even an 'O' ring that sits inside the valve guide, that the valve stem passes through, stopping oil passing from the camshaft area into the valve area.
