Will watch this one with interest as I am a big fan of the 1.9 TDI engine. Had both the Audi 80 TDI 1Z for 200,000 miles and my A4 AFN is at 180,000 and running on veg oil.

There was a AFN conversion on ebay in germany recently. Seemed the exhaust manifold was the difficult bit.

The AFN is the one to use, the power output is so much better than the 1Z.

Which cabriolet are you doing it on? Was it a V6.

Its a 92 cab and a 93 80 tdi. Will get serial numbers etc tomorrow and will try to get some photos up as well. It should be easier than the Diesel conversions I've done to Scimitars in the past. A few more wires though

Hi mate

I found if yuou got 2 cars its easier
i converted my old Audi 90 quattro to diesel IZ before i sold it
both dashes out
swop over the pedal arrangement from diesel to the cab
engine loom swop
brackets/supports are there for intercooler/ fuel filter etc on cab
dash clocks swop

might have to swop fuse box as you need the glowplug fuse set up on fusebox....later vpetrol ones dont have the metyal tabs

might have to play with the exhaust

if i think of anything else will get in touch
cheers
john Cool

Hi, the scimitars were a 6 with a 1.8 bmc for a year then a 2.3 sierra diesel into it, then in 91 a se6b with a 2.3 sierra. Put a 2.5 granada turbo (peugeot not vm) and mt75 into it in in 98. In 96 made up a 5a with a perkins 2l out of a sherpa and added a turbo. Think if you go to youtube and type in diesel scimitar you'll find them!!
