Hey guys, posted on the A3 forum a few days ago, didn't realise there was an official introduce yourself forum Confused

anyway hi!! (shameless copy/paste from my other post incoming!!)

I'm actually just about to hand back my company car A3, a sportback SE with the old 1.9 diesel engine, loved it to bits, done 75k in 3.5 years in it and never a single problem. Really sad to see the old girl go, but lease expiry is a fact of automotive life I guess.

the good news is I'm replacing it with another A3! excited is not the word, I have stepped up a little with this one:

A3 Sportback 2.0 tdi 140 Black Edition, ibis white with comfort pack for the cruise control & parking sensors.

I guess I should have asked this before placing my order - but what do you guys think of that car? the engine? the spec? the colour?? white is a big decision for me, as it is literally the inverse of my last 4 cars, all have been black!

anyway, looking forward to meeting some of y'all

Hi Chris and welcome to the site.

I don't know much about A3's TBH (never owned one, driven one once) but I do know something about owning a white car as I have had two white cars in my time; a mk1 Renault Laguna (which was nice to drive despite bits and pieces falling off it every time you closed the door, started the engine, looked at it from far away etc) and a Chavalier Commander (which went... well, about as good as 80's vintage Chavaliers went but died it's final death in a spectacular shower of melting pistons and split crankcases on the M11 on the way home from a music festival in Peterboghorror in 1991).

After finally selling the Iguana to a local scrappy I vowed then to never, NEVER own a white / light coloured car again. White paint shows every bit of road dirt, tar mark, stone chip, brake dust, bird doings, tree sap etc etc etc under the sun, and no matter how clean you seem to get them, one turn around the block and they look dirty again. Paint matching is also a f*****g nightmare; white, it turns out, is not necessarily always white.

However; the right car in the right shade of white with nicely blacked out windows and a driver with shades on does look cool, and I think that the new A3 can pull that off.

Of course, you can't be hanging around the local bowling alley/one way system and maintain that look....

Just reading back over this post, and it's a bit of a ramble... mainly because it's 0215hrs and I'm working the graveyard shift at work with very little to do and I'm well caffiened up.... sorry chap.

Anyway, welcome to the site, post up some pics of your A3 (we like pics) and welcome to the site.

Cheers.
