I own a 2006 A8, and want to get an ipod connection to the MMI audio system. Audi garage want to charge me a fortune, so came here. Anyone got any suggestions as to where to go, what to buy?
Thanks

I have just fitted the AMI to my A8 2007 model
Easy fit total cost was around 250 from Audi
You need the module and the cables and it took me 20 minutes, works a treat and the ipod shows fully in the MMI and charges etc.
Cheers

Thank you for the reposne, I will investigate. The only issue I have as I undestand it is that my 2006 model A8 is missing what the later model cars have and hence to get it on MMI system need to have full AMI installed, as MMI is missing part of the SW on my version - Audi cost £650, found a local car audi place will do it for £550.

Sorry haven't logged in for a while
If Audi have told you that I wouldn't believe it. They told me the exact same thing and that AMI would not fit my car Rolling Eyes .
My car was an 06 build 07 registered and they quoted that is was not compatible with AMI Laughing .
Still it was worth the look on the parts chaps face when i ordered the parts and told him he was wrong Laughing .
You need to upgrade the software on the MMI and the system registers the new component and hey presto you have you IPOD linked.
I have heard some of the earlier cars (03-4) have trouble slotting the AMI unit in as it goes around 5mm to deep but not in 06 etc.
Mine was a very easy fit and there is no need to remove the glovebox as indicated in the instructions, provided you can thread the cables through. Just don't kink the optical leads.
If you want the part numbers let me know from memory it cost around 250 including the two cables one to enable you to continue to use the cd (not required if you dont want the cd changer) and the other for the actual connection from the AMI to the Ipod
Cheers
Very Happy
