Can anyone confirm that the gearbox filler/drain plugs are 17mm hex allen key? Also is it possible to get to the drain plug without lifting the car? Thanks for all replies!

they usually are 17mm allen key fitment, providing they haven't been replaced.
If they have been replaced, it will be an anti tamper torx fitting.
Access is usually from underneath. You'd do well to reach it without raising it off the ground but I understand why you'd want to do this because the car needs to be level to get the oil out.
You may have to raise it to get the drain key loose and then unwind with the car on the deck.
It goes without saying that you must remove the fill plug first
