Hello all,
They say first impressions count and after years of running what
I will loosely term "classic" VWs, my first encounter with one of
their upmarket cousins aka the Audi coupe 2.6 has left me feeling
all -"where have you been all of my life."

Jeez, this thing has power steering, a heater that works, loads of
switches for things, lots of gauges, comfortable seats, it goes
like stink and stops too!

Hopefully this is the start of a long term relationship and I promise
to keep the coupe regulars entertained with my attempts to manitain
and improve my new baby Very Happy

Will work out how to post some piccies when it stops raining.

Oh and by the way, real nice site.

Hello dude, welcome along. Wink
One of my mates has got a mk2 golf gti 8v. Its a nice tidy looking car which is the same age as my coupe 20v.
We had them parked up together when he 1st bought it. very nice i said. However i then got in it. The controls and cab in general look very very basic in comparison. No electric windows, mirrors, sunroof. Basic heater controls, wafer thin door cards etc.
However its a blast to drive, but it weighs nothing.
But its just not in the same league as my 20v. Twisted Evil

Exmouth is a great part of the country too, been far too long since i've been down there. I used to visit one of my pals down there who lived in Budleigh at the time while he was at Bicton College. They were very messy days in the late 90's. Very Happy Laughing Laughing

Still gets messy on a weekend Dangerous Laughing
Bootnecks v locals always good for a giggle!

Know what you mean about basic specs, my last VW
was a Scirocco scala inj with a 2 litre bottom end, 900kg
all up weight-gave about the same power to weight ratio
as the Audi albeit at much higher revs (5200 for 100 mph in 5th!)

The silence when driving the Audi is awesome.
Will get some piccies up if it ever stops raining!
