My friends 80 saloon was stolen from outside his house in Staple Hill, Bristol in the early hours of this morning. It has an S2 front bumper, elipsoid headlights, a Hella rear spoiler and 100+ 17" alloys. It also had a bad leak from the exhaust and is very noisy.

Some of you may remember that I used to own this car and spent a lot of time and money on it, it means a lot to me and I really want to see it recovered. Please could you make anyone who might be able to help aware and look out for parts from breakers etc that could have come from this car, it had a lot of rare optional extras fitted so would be worth quite a bit in parts.

The registration is K874 WVV

Thanks for all the support, I've not heard anything or been able to locate any parts from this car so it's not looking hopeful. I can't really work out why they wanted to take this one other than to break it. By the sound of it they have removed the ignition barrel with a slide hammer but I'm not sure how they got in. I'm still feeling rather upset about the whole thing.

Matt

Sorry to hear this.

Regarding getting in the car. an idiot I know who used be a car thief showed me how easy it is to gain entry to these old motors using an everyday object that most of us carry around with us daily. I was shocked and a bit frightened by it TBH.

Without revealing too much, is there anything that B4 owners should do/modify to protect against such an attack?

Renew your shotgun certificate... Laughing

I would also like to know this - a friend who used to have a mk2 Golf had some funny little plates put in the doors to stop a well known entry technique. If there's a similar thing it'd be very handy.

Alas, its well known if some thieving scrote wants your car and is determined enough they will have it ! Evil or Very Mad
Shame really because if most of us caught them in the act there would be some swift 'justice' dished out !
But where would that lead us ! Shocked

Indeed gripper, that is exactly what this junkie said to me, if he wanted a specific car then he was having it no matter what. However he told me if he was out "working" and he seen three cars he fancied he would choose the easiest.

There is no defence against the method he showed me. Just do you best to add as many deterrents as you can and hope they like the look of another car more.

BTW I only know this guy as he stays in my area and it makes life easier and safer for me to know and "get along" with the bad people.

The car has been found today and 2 people have been arrested. The police still have it at the moment but he should be getting it back next week. I have no idea what condition it is in.

Result.Very Happy

Knowing that the British justice system is woefully inadequate for victims, I suspect they (whoever they are), will avoid a custodial sentence. Personally I'd have them picking up litter on the verge of the M5 for a year, in all weathers and shackled. Sod the EU human rights boll*ocks. Treat them fairly, but make them do the time.

Bloody Hell - Seems car theft might be one of the lesser charger they will face. Hopefully it will ensure they are banged up for a good long time Sad

He should be getting it back in the next couple of days, it was found on fake plates so I don't know if they will put the correct ones back on.
