Hi!!! Have a 1990 coupe q 20v which decides to stall when braking at junctions. As soon as you stop the revs tumble and about 80% of the time it stalls, or else the revs tumble to almost zero and then jump back up to around 800 and everything is fine. It idles normally and starts up fine. Any ideas? Cheers!

First the good news - I had this exact same problem on my 2.2 coupe GT a couple of years back.

Second the bad - I can't remember for the life of me what the garage said was causing it apart from it was down to a wire for a sensor on the side of the head which had burnt though, once this had been re-connected there was no problem.

Sorry i couldn't be more specific,

Cheers

Check earth leads (and there are a few in the engine bay) are good then clean the ISV. Details on www.20v.org and someone mentioned. Also check for holes/blockages in the breather pipes.

The cause on my car was a split in the large rubber corregated hose from the top of the airbox to the inlet manifold.
