Can anyone tell me the Serck-Marsden reference for a radiator for a 1989 (F-reg) 1.8S. Carburettor, saloon, no P/S, no air-con. I am having problems sourcing the correct rad locally. The nearest seems to be for the series 4 injection- is this correct ? Serck say it's a bit obscure (they've never ordered one before in Sheffield & hence expensive @ £107- wouldn't know if this is cheap or dear). My Audi has the single rad fan. Any help at all needed with reference numbers or advice.

There are a number of different rads available for the 4 cylinder cars, 6 in fact depending on various things like engine code, manual/auto transmission, etc.
Do you have your engine code? I can then work backwards and hopefully tell you which of the injection cars uses the same rad.
Incidentally, I've just bought a rad for my Coupe 20v from my local Audi Dealer for £125. The 4 cyl rads may well be cheaper and if they get the price close to Serck, I'd be tempted to go for the genuine one as at least you'll know you've got the correct part
Let me know you engine code and we'll get the ball rolling.
Cheers

A Radiater specialist should be able to recore your original unit for around £90 or less
Thanks for replies:- it isn't possible to recore as the top & bottom rails are completely rotted out.
I 'm not sure where to find the engine code (help !), schedule book gives the following Id. Nos. wauzzz89z KA200430,
894 042,
NE----AKM
Good tip about dealer prices, unfortunately no VAG dealers for MILES around here. Still, there's always the dog-&-bone .

OK...
Your engine code is NE, and your gearbox code is AKM.
The Audi part number for your rad is 893 121 253 A.
Lots of other cars use the same rad, including a 1995 2.0i 4cyl Audi Coupe, or a 1994 2.0i 4cyl Audi 80, or even a 1991 2.0i 4cyl Audi 80.
So there is a good changce Serck may be right about the series 4 (92>) 2.0i models.
Hope this helps.

I've had a look at an old Serck Marston/International Radiators book I've got and the reference for your car (80 1.8 Carb 86-91 Man -a/c) is 2719259.
Hope this helps,
Barney
p.s. radiator for my 20v Coupe auto with a/c cost me £210 from Euro Car Parts, dealer was £310! Good luck.

That must be one hell of a rad for the auto box
ECP wanted about £135 for the main rad on my 20v and I got it from my dealer for about £125 - very strange pricing strategy on Audi's behalf i think!

Been back to Serck - their O.E.Ref: is 893121251H, which seems to be the correct rad from the drawings in their catalogue. I forgot to take the O.E. Ref kindly provided by Darren.
Can anyone tell me if this Serck O.E.ref is correct, please. This rad has Serck ref: 2719720. This seems to be the only rad in the Serck catalogue which has the correct dimensions & mountings, but not easy to tell or be certain from diddy diagrams . As it's a special order & Sheffield Serck have never ordered one before I'm a bit wary & I'd like to get it right, if poss.
The rad which Serck list as being for my motor is definitely incorrect- wrong size, wrong shape, wrong mounts & lacks a hose connection+fan temp switch mount.
Now completely & in dire need of a beer or 3. Never straightforward, is it .

According to Martyn @ vagparts, Audi have reduced the price of a lot of parts to entice owners of older Audi's into theor workshops. Trouble is the parts may be cheap but who wants to pay their labour rates ????

Now have a new rad . For future ref:- On a 1989 (F plate) 1.8S, no A/C, no P.A.S., single fan (single speed), carburettor Audi 80. The O.E.ref. is:- 893121251H, the Serck-Marsden ref. is 2719720 & is classed a "series 4", i.e. is common to later models, as listed in previous submissions to this topic. Thanks for help.
