I don't know how many have seen this but 034 have recently prouced a turbo kit for the 7A engine.
http://www.034motorsport.com/product_info.php?products_id=19679
From their blurb the stage one kit is not intercooled which could be a bit limiting. And their claimed power increases for this set up would appear to a bit optimistic, although I could be wrong. The stage two set up would be better as it is intercooled but could be pricey. What do you guys think of this? If you are like me and are looking to turbocharge their car this could be viable route because as we all know S2 engines can be a bit rare. |

It looks pretty good if you want a bolt on solution that avoids having to do an engine/loom swap.
However
Kit=$2900=£1822
Shipping=$227=£142
034 injector kit is another $300
So you are looking at over £2000 including tax/duty, you can buy a donor s2 for that, have an engine/loom and get a shed load of bits or have an s2 (admittedly one that will probably need money spent on it but still)
Still an nice bolt on solution though. |

Probably more for the USA Market as I don't think they got the S2 over there. As already said, you could buy an S2 for similar money over here. |

its not that optimistic, wander onto motorgeek and see what WHP some of the turbo'ed 7A's are making there!
AAN/ABY/3B engines are popular for conversions so hunt for one and you might find one. There are often a few urS4/S6/S2 engines for breaking every once in a while.
Cheap power boost, try NOS, and speak to Nogin, his 7A is NOs'ed. |

The idea is also appealing over here in Denmark, since S2's are rarer than rocking horse pooh over here, and if you manage to find one, expect to pay upwards of 10grand... |

Just to give you an idea of how things are, when I bought my early build B4 quattro (NG) 3 years ago I paid 5 grand for a car in what could best be decribed as average condition... |

See the thing is it wouldn't actually turn out so good for you anyhow, it's the import duties that make em so expensive - 180 % of the book price... |

A lot of petrolheads have an address just over the border to Germany or over the bridge to Sweden for precisely that reason... |

I agree. I think the traditional route of obtaining a 3B/ABY/AAN engine is probably the most cost effective way. However, as I am only in the UK for a few week each year I don't have the luxury of hunting for the right unit and then going through the transplant procedure. When I'm home I don't want to spend all my time working on my car. This kit could offer the solution I'm looking for. Also, I can maintain originality by using the existing engine. And this sort of appeals to me.
There is another solution. A friend of mine is a member of a historic aircraft society. He said he could get hold of an engine from from a Vampire jet fighter. Nice, but jet engine conversions are so passè |
