I was visiting my parents a little over a week ago, my dad was talking about cars and asking me what I thought of this car and that car etc as I am an auto detailer. He then out of the blue said "I wonder what ever happened to my Audi coupe?" My Dad bought a 2.2E coupe in Nautic Blue brand new on 01/08/1989. I put the registration into my usually searches car check.gov, etc and finding out that it had ran out of mot in February 2014, untaxed etc I told him it was either in someone's garage or had recently died after all it's now 26 years old so it had done well to get to an mot performed in 2013. I then arranged to drop my mum off shopping on my way home and walked out to my van. My dad then came running out of the house "Paul the cars on eBay!!"
He had got a bit nostalgic about the coupe and went on eBay to look how much they were selling for etc and unbelievably there it was, the car my dad bought brand new in 1989 when he was 43 the only brand new car he ever bought.
Within 2 days I had been to view the car and purchased it. Within 4 days I along with my dad had paid for the car and driven it the 40 miles home, I have bought my first Audi, a coupe at the age of 43. Sounds like a script from a film doesn't it? all the planets must of been in line last week.
My dad had owned the coupe for 7 years then traded it in for a mercedes when he read a motoring article where somebody had said the engines would only last 70,000 miles, seen as it had done 59,000 my dad traded it in Confused
I already own the mercedes that hasn't left the family
So here it is, it ain't pretty, it needs a lot of work, it's a project car but best of all it's home after 19 years away......

quite a story and looks not bad as a base for a project

Whoever told your dad it wouldn't last more than 70k miles should be shot. All going well my 90 20v will pass 300k this year

Pictures are deceiving Mike car requires front wings, both bumpers painting suspension parts, shocks etc etc lol more pics to follow and the full project will be shown on here. My dad would never have traded the car in had he not read the article. It's now done 171,000 miles how wrong that person was. I think it was all about the woodruff key problem the kv engine could have. Scaremongering if you ask me. Smile
