Hi to all members,

I'm new here (i did introduce myself at correct board) and i need some help regarding my father's car.

The car is 1993 Audi 80 B4 2.0E (90bhp)

First problem is the steering wheel.

This one:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/pimpdriver/IMG_2952.jpg

Central part of it is broken (part where is the horn). I think that the pins at the edge of that central part(i don't know the correct term) are broken because it is still attached ( i presume through wire of the horn) to rest of the wheel.

Can i repair that or the best solution is to buy a good second - hand wheel?

Second problem is the tacho or instrument:

It is the one which has clock and kph meter and the clock recently died.

Is it possible to put inside a good second hand instrument which has rpm instead of clock as basic instrument?

This one:

Third problem is light in the dash switch (fog,de mist switch,etc..)

I followed some tutorial from this PDF and i did manage to resolve problems with yellow (turn on switch light) bulb.

Problem is that 1.2W 12V bulb is not working as basic red light..

I can't find anywhere 0.8W 12V bulb :/ (not even on ebay..)

I think that is stupid to buy new switches because they work fine..

I'm also willing to pay someone to buy for me those bulbs (if anyone can) through paypal and to send me home..

What can i do? Do i have some alternitive which i can put inside?

Do someone know some shop which can send me bulbs at home (i'm from Croatia..)?

Fourth problem is also with interior (ambient) lights..

When i pull of my key from the key lock the ambient lights work, but if i am entering the car they don't work at all! I tried every combination (full up,center and full down center light switch and also that combo with rear left and right switch).

Do someone know what can be the cause of that problem?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Also,my apologies if my grammar is not the best, but english is not my first language.

If it is needed,i can provide also pictures and more description about those problems..

Respectfully,Nikola.

hi and welcome, i think the small parts that hold the centre of the steering wheel are hard to find, i have seen some on uk ebay but probably costs the same as a good second hand wheel. i think the dash/instruments can be changed but there are lots of different types and i believe they have to be for the same engine, not tdi or v6, and the type of check system has to be the same. i have not seen the lower watt bulbs , can you not just use the 1.2w bulbs if these bulbs don;t work i guess there is another problem maybe contacts or internal switch problem. have you looked at the door contact switches on the door pillar? i know mine played up and i took them off and cleaned them up and now they work fine, the rubber cover pulls off then there is one screw holding them, i think it is the up possition for the interior light to come on when you open the door.

Ok,now..

I will buy another wheel (it is not very expensive)

Some guy from Germany has one instrument (30 days of warranty) from 2.0E (115bhp),mine is 90 but i think that it is not a problem, because it is in essence the same engine..

Unfortunatelly,1.2W 12V are not working as basic idle red indicator.. I know that switch is ok (both fog and de mist) because i have one 0.8W bulb (which is old and not bright enough) and when i put it in it works..

As for those door conacts..

I think that it can be a problem, but on all four doors :/

Because none is working when i open the doors..

Is it difficult to dismantle it?

Also (if anyone is watching my topic) i'm still very interested in finding solution for fix that switches..

It is really anoying as i love that all that i have works proprerlly -.-

the door contacts are easy to check, just remove rubber then one screw, maybe the wire goes from one switch to the next and is broken?
i used l e d bulbs for my demist/hazard switches and maybe you are right about other bulbs because one of my l e d bulbs failed a few days ago and when i used a 1.2w bulb in it failed instantly.

I will check that door contacts and if they are broken i will replace it. But if the problem is in wires, than i would not get involve as i don't have much time to mess around with that..

Which L E D do you use for switches?

Is it difficult to mount them?

Also (i found some dashboard instrument, but some lamps are broken) which bulbs go into?

I saw here that some people using this:

R509TMOR Dashboard Bulbs 14V 1.12W (Orange)

Is this correct? 14V?? I thought that in car only goes 12V lamps??

But they are 14v o_0 ??

On my car, the interior light switch itself was causing the problem with the interior lights not coming on.

It worked ok taking the key out but never any other time. Fiited a new one from the dealer. Was about £40.

Never found a source for the 0.8w bulbs except for the dealers. 8A0 919 062 is the part number

Instruments from a 4 cyl car should work ok with a tacho instead of a clock.

the L E D where the same T5 type bulb from ebay, like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-White-T5-286-LED-Bulbs-Dash-Speedo-Cig-Lighter-/261312439888?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cd76f6650 made in china, cheap ones. the car electrics volt range 12 to 14v, some things say 12v some 14, its normal. the dash lights should be clear not orange, this is what i used, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-SHOP-10-PACK-509T-12V-DASHBOARD-PANEL-BULB-BULBS-509-T-CAR-AUTO-/170926406658?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item27cc01fc02
