I serviced my 1994 2.0 16v ACE engined Coupe today including changing the leaking rocker gasket. I really wanted to change the injector seals at the same time but although we removed the retaining clips we just couldn't get the injectors out. Not wanting to break a fuel line at 4pm on a Saturday we decided not to do this particular part. Can anyone tell me how these should come out and how difficult it should be?
Also, who in God's name decided that the best way (according to Haynes) to replace the rotor arm is to 'destroy' the original before bonding a new one into place? I've never heard of that before so was a bit of a shock I can tell you.
We replaced the fuel filter but there appears to be a bit of a leak from this, we put the copper washers in and tightened the bolts up but perhaps it needs to be a bit tighter.....anybody had similar issues on here? The spanner is massive so may have to get the local garage to see if they can tighten up as I used my mates tools and his workshop is an hour away.
It was quite a daunting day as I'd never taken the inlet manifold off before and the thought of bolts shearing off were running through the back of my mind but I must say it was fairly easy....much to our relief!! |

i found the fuel filter bolts needed another tighten when i did mine, normal open ended spanners are just about ok, flare nut spanners make it easier . think the torque spec is 25 - 30 nm |

I may try tightening the bolts with adjustable spanners tomorrow, either that or it's off to the garage with it. In all honesty, it can't be that difficult to sort I would hope.... |

there is a tool for "popping" the injectors out,I cut a 'u' shape, sized to snugly fit just below the hex section, out of a dinner knife bent it and levered them out.

It might help to lube the seal area if you can, white 'spray grease' might do it? |

I've booked it into the garage near where I work on Thursday, I'm out on the road so much at the moment it's ridiculous & just don't have time. Hopefully the new injector seals should make starting the car easier (I think the current ones may be fubared) & stopping the leak on the filter will stop the fear of some chav dropping a fag but on the floor & a trail of flames following me up the road!! (the leak isn't that bad but had visions of the flames left behind in Back to the Future!!) |
