It is my very sad duty to inform you that Jonathan - Bladerunner on this forum - died unexpectedly on Thursday 19th January. I heard the news when I 'phoned his workshop for a chat this afternoon.

I am afraid I have no details at present - I have left my number with the lady at the next industrial unit, who is fielding 'phone calls and asked Jonathan's sister to call me when funeral arrangements are known.

I know Jonathan has been a huge source of help to many people on this forum - myself included. A nicer person - and a more meticulously professional mechanic you could not wish to meet.

I can't think of anything else to say right now - but it is at times like this that I am convinced that there is something very screwed up in the world...

Mike

So sorry to hear this. He was an invaluable source of information and trivia and will be sorely missed around here.

Rest In Peace Jonathan, you've been kind, helpful and without doubt the best example of on-line, owner and enthusiast help over the years.

As others have said this is very sad news.

I've taken my A6 up to Chesterfield five or six times over the last year and chatted via phone and email many more and have always found Jonathan to be a very friendly person who was very willing to share his extensive knowledge of the A6, Audis and cars in general without any bull.

The Audi community has lost a top man who I considered to be a true friend.

my sentiments... apologies to Mike O my reaction was "*censored*"... etc.

From my dealings with him- genuine, nice, knowledgeable guy.

If anyone is in touch with his family- please pass on my own personal condolences and those from the community "at large"....

Balls.

quick questions;

1. if agreeable by the family (if one of the users are in touch)- is it worth doing a "site collection"- either for flowers or a charity of their choice

2. A fitting "tribute" for the home page- ideally from those users that had more "interaction" with Jonathan

3. (Less important, but something myself and bladerunner had discussed at certain points)- compiling all his information/ hints/ tips/ etc. into one "article" as a "legacy" for other owners?

Thoughts/ suggestions/ feedback welcome.

At the end of the day- cars aside- my thoughts are with his family.....

Sometimes I think we really do live in a fooked up world....

I had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan a few years ago when I purchased an A6 from him.
Excellent all round honest and decent chap who was helpful and took time out to help with transpot arrangments for me.

We had a few 'phone conversations afterwards and was always cheerful and always offering advice and help where needed.
I know a few users on here have also met him personally through work done and i am sure they will agree on my comments.

RIP Jon, you will be missed.

Rest In Peace Jonathan.

Bladerunner has been a great help to me over the years, whether it be his renowned (C4)A6 Knowledge, posting tools to me or visiting his workshop to use the ramp.

My thoughts go out to you and your family. You will be sadly missed Crying or Very sad

very sad news and shocking

He fitted my cruise control and his enthusiasm for the C4 had a big part in me keeping mine for so long

His quality of work was very high standard and from chatting to him comes from a earlier career in Motorsport

Sadly missed indeed

However I have noticed that BladeRunner contributed a lot to this forum and has replied to a couple of my posts a while back.

Thats absolutely tragic, Jonathan was such a genuine, nice guy, always so helpful and he really cared about his customers.

Please make sure his car gets sold to an enthusiast (or a museum)!

I am very upset to hear this sad crybaby news, I have only known Jonathan just over a year, but during the restoration of my Audi 100 he was alway very honest and extremely knowledgable and very helpful in all of my dealings, I was always willing to travel 150 miles each way for the the fabulous service he gave. He will be irreplacable. Without Joanthan my car would be long gone. Regards Terry(Windy) crybaby
