Had the car for 10 years no problems, love it even though its tired.
Last 3 weeks both side light fuses blown at least 3 times but cannot find the reason.
When I switch on the rear fog lights, the indicator glows, but there is no power to the rear fogs. However the front fogs and indicator come on as well !. When I switch on the front fogs it has no effect on the rear.

No work has been done on the car since January when I had a trailer hitch fitted. I have check all the hitch wiring and it seems perfect.

I am stuck and would appreciate any suggestions apart from selling it Smile
PS Its a LHD and I am in Germany.

Is it the avant? If so the rear foglights wiring goes via the flexi-boot on the LHS of the tailgate, this stresses the wires and eventually they break. (I'm guessing there might be a similar problem with the saloon).

Not sure on the source of sidelight fuses going, but I'd be checking all your light fittings for water getting in- a good way to cause a short.

Check the earth connection to the fuse box,

then check the earth to the rear light units
