hi chaps ,im trying to get a tps for my 93 2.3 auto ,ive tried every where ,but no luck ,it has a 3 pin connector on a lead ,and a 3 pin connector on the body of the tps,i would be happy to purchase the throttle body as well ,and even the whole thing including the fuel distributor andair flow meter ,ive been on ebay searching for months but no joy ,even contacte bosch but they no longer make it ,to be honest i would much rather change the whole lot ,as im really bad starting problems , eratic tick over ,,and the tick over speeds up when warm ,ive changed all gaskets and hoses ,injector seals, but it still runs lke a pig ,everything was fine before the hall went on the distributor, change the dizzy ,all was fine for a short while ,then it started stuttering when hot ,then everything went down hill from there .i have changed everything i can think of ,had it on diagnostic which showed air leak hence changed everything ,one thing i did notice before all the probs was that it was sluggish ,and would not kick down in normal mode ,and gearchanges on the auto box cluncky, but not in sport mode gearchanges seemed fine, the timing was spot on ,but if i advanced the timming the car was much quicker ,gearchanges smooth ,and kick down work in normal mode ,but obviously the tick over increased .its far to good to break ,but ive been pulling my hair out with it ,its just sitting idol, and suggestions cheers steve

there is no TPS on the NG engine
the TPS only came on the 16v and 20v versions
have you inspected the crankcase breather as the NG suffered a common fault of the rubber breather breaking down and collapsing in on itself
also i used to have a 2.3e that ran like a bag of sh*t untill one day i changed the airflow meter/metering head and it was fine

thanks for the reply ,i thought the tps was the same thing as the potentiometer ,its on the underside of the throttle housing ,one cable coming out with a 3 pin connector ,and one 3 pin connector on the potentiometer body ,maybe it has the wrong throttle body ,but the wirng all correct yes i thought about changing what you suggested ,there is one on ebay for a 2.3 ,i was going to get the throttle body as well ,but looks different ,it has a small black box on it at the top ,mine has not got this so im not sure any ideas cheers again
what i did to fix my problem with the worn tracks was move the circuit board so the contacts ran in a unworn areas but in the same sweap patern.

they must have changed over to that system in the later types, as i thought the NG uses the type with black box on the top for WOT
If this is the case then i think im right in assuming that you could you the throttle body from a 20v as they use the the TPS
maybe easier to source a complete 2nd hand throttle body, although if it was me id try and source the problem 1st before using blanket replacment
did you chack the crankcase breather?

the auto uses a potentiometer instead of the WOT switch used on the manual NG engine.

thanks for the replies yes i changed the crank breather ,when i changed all the other odds and sods.as i said before its just gone from bad to worse especially the starting ,it cranks for ever before it kicks into life then when it does it stutters into life ,really slowly ,almost like some old hand cranked generator,i think the best course of action is to change the throttle housing and the fuel meter etc ,because problems now do all seem fuel related ,any one got the 20 valve throttle body?,as for repairing the tps ,ive tried that ,and its still not working within range ,any more thoughts on the problem cheers steve
i loked at both descriptions of the 20 valve body ,and niether are the same as the 10 valve ,the tps on the second pic is like the one on the 10 valve ,but it only has 3 pin connector on the tps body ,and not on the lead ,mine has 3 pin on both ,this has been the problem getting the tps with both 3 pin ,many places ive tried say they have never seen both connectors 3 pin, apperantly it does not show St being both 3 pin ,at audi ,HAVNG A REAL PROBLEM LOCATING A THROTTLE BODY OR TPS FOR THIS 2.3 AUTO CHEERS STEVE
I'm guessing the auto needs an extra pin for wide open throttle, for the kickdown?
Another NG throttle body thread recently threw up the info that what would normally be the 'wide open throttle switch' for the ECU actually operates at about 60% throttle open, in the case of the NG.
Just curious, why do you need one?

well the reason i neede one was because on diagnostics ,it was not reading ,but today ,i open ed up a tps i had with with a two pin connector ,and unsoldered ,the slide ,and put it in the one thats in my one,the micro switch is fine so i hope thats cured that problem ,but i will still have all the other probs ive mentioned no doubt,i think its all pretty much down to fuel ,thats why i think it maybe wise to change fuel meter ,etc, does anyome know is the fuel meter the same on manual and auto ,just ive seen a couple second hand but both are from manuals cheers steve
