Hello Audi people,

Been looking for a cheap motor for a while and I bought myself a second hand Audi A6 2.8 V6 Quattro today.

What an awesome car it is. Very happy with the purchase.

Thought I would join the site as there is lots of things I want to do to it.

See you on the road.

nice car matey

the 2.8 30v is a gem of an engine - if it sounded like the 5 pot it would be flippin amazing!!!

regular oil changes are a must (some of them tend to go through a bit of oil)

like the colour too Cool

what plans do you have for her Razz

Thanks for the reply and the info. Any advice on these cars is greatly appreciated.

First thing I'd like to do is change the wood effect trim, I am not a great fan. Other than that the interior is mint. Tan / cream leather interior so I need to be very selectful about the wood replacement.

The body is near perfect but the wheels could do with replacing. I like the RS4 wheels but I havent properly looked into wheels yet.

I love the engine, i'm thinkng an induction kit, air filter to liven that beautiful v6 tone. . . how can something that big go that flippin fast????

Many say that filter, exhasut and decat can give these engines extra 30bhp, not sure if this is entirely true, but my 2.8 went like stonk after these mods - althought the exhaust was rather loud lol

A lot of car for the money imho, the C5 platform I really like. Also in agreement i have never understood wood trim, OK 50 years ago when it was a suitably available material but given the shape and style now it cant help but look cheap and nasty. Carbon trim, or fishscale form a sport or S6 will make a big difference.

there was a post on here a few years ago with a passat with the same lump with the above. Rolling road before and after and the gains were impressive. nigh on 230bhp.

Hello 230 eh? Hmmmm... I'll need to wait a while for the exhaust I think. Having the twin pipes running all the way will bump up the cost. I've had a quote from a good friend for a full stainless for about £500. Watch this space.

I am still waiting for the K&N to arrive as the place I ordered from became out of stock after I ordered it. Brilliant.

The wood trim is coming off very soon, it hurts my eyes.

Panic last week as the car started coughing and spluttering last week. After a little investigation it was the N80 Valve. Sealed itself shut. £2.99 for some carb cleaner and I was a happy man again.

Also on the look out for some wheels.

K&N fitted. Now I can see a whole tank of fuel gone rather quickly. How sweet the sound. Very Happy

Nice clean car Wink

The 30v responds better to air modifications and luckily most of these are acheived by simply helping the engine to breath better, in & out, you'll gain some economy too but you won't notice it as you'll have your foot down listening to the lovely noise it makes. I never tire of hearing my own exhaust........(mmm didn't come out like that in my head) As for "How can such a big car be so fast" simple, made of aluminium, about a similar weight to a B5 A4 which when you think about it, isn't much heavier than an A3 of the same age Shocked

Simply put, with that engine you have a very good base to start to go nuts with, if you so desired, I know Fast28 is still trying to find the boundaries Laughing You have the added feature of having a big comfy car around you to easily swan you from one place to another Razz

I thought it was only the A8's and the A2's that were made from ally? Shock
