hi
can anyone advice me if there is any way to see if my ael has been re maped
its de cated it pulls well
if i can find ecu can it be seen if it was open before?
can i tell by numbers on eproms? or any tail tail signs?
and one more think please can anyone tell me when they turbo starts hard boost please
mine not bad till about 2.3k rpm them pulls from there like a train,
i expected such a small turbo to pull from 1.5k rpm hard
all this engine is missing is vnt turbine ,if it had one i think it would be a animal of a car

Hook up a boost gauge and see what it's doing? Sounds like it's std if it's not boosting until 2300rpm, mines chipped and will pull from 1600rpm.

My AAT boosts from 2K and is good to 3K

hi
done a boost check today

in 2nd gear boot it i get 13.5-14psi
shift in to 3rd foot to the floor get to almost 15psi
dont get me wrong i do have a boost from 1600rpm but hard kick from engine starts
at about 2200 rpm
no boost leaks whats so ever
took my bottom intercooler pipe off to see if there is much oil in cooler,no good as gold,turbo dry too
so happy with that

Hi,
Your AEL appears to be working as expected. However, K14 is a relatively small turbo, but it is still a wastegated turbo, not a VGT turbo. What you describe looks normal to me. And your boost appears to be factory set.

You could have more power down low, but you would have more smoke. Linearity is the key to avoid torque peaks and smoke.

I have chipped my AAT myself, and it took a long time before having something better all the way, but still clean. I can actually to the same for AEL or other TDi from same era.

I have order some chips from spink 10 days ago but he has ran out of eproms
so waiting for them
I will report back how its when I get them and fit them
