Ok so i have finally got the car back from the specialist's £500 lighter but at least its working. Now i get a decent chance to drive it. Its my first auto which obviously is very easy and relaxing to drive but I've noticed that unlike a manual where you can just boot it foot to the floor when you want, with this auto it seems as if i have to be much more progressive or it'll just rev hard and not change up very quickly unless using the tiptronic then i can be as sporty as i want. Now i guess I'm asking all the auto drivers of cars of this age wether I'm just being heavy footed and impatient or if there is a problem. The kick down does work but again its seems that i nearly have to find where the kick down point is rather than just giving it a bootful for some instant power. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

im not to up to date with the auto/tronic boxes

does it have a sport mode?
if it doesnt then its likley the triptonic is the sport mode, so in esence the auto mode is the econimy mode, maybe some one else will know, or you could post on audi-sport.net bit more lively there

Hi, I have always driven autos because I only have an auto licence. The Audi tiptronic box doesn't have a sport mode, but adapts to your driving style.
Sorry to say the autos are known for their problems - probably due to the high torque from the TDi or V6 engine - and there are always lots on Ebay with slipping problems.
However, if you get a good one, it shouldn't mind being booted and both of mine certainly don't - V6 Quattro and TDi PD 115 Passat. I would change dexron fluid regularly, and you should be ok.
