Thanks lads.
Just before going out to work last night, I caught James's reply. Allie wandered past and saw the pics of the kitchen with her in them.

Convo went a little something like this;

Allie - OMG, why have you got those on there?
Me - just showing off my handiwork,
Allie - Jesus, my arse looks huge !!!!, I look fat !!!
Me - No pet, you are preggers, not fat Rolling Eyes
Allie - My legs look massive too !!!
Me - Please don't go down this road again. You are pregnant. Not bloody fat.
Allie - I look bloody chunky,
Me - Look ! You've got to expect a bit of weight gain, all women do.
Allie - RIGHT, so you think I'm fat now eh??? I'm going on a diet.
Me - I give up. I'm going to work.

Jase..

Oh, forgot about this.
Coming home from work Friday night, I pulled into Mcdonalds for a large Latte and noticed as I waited at the drive through that the revs were sitting at 1200 rpm at idle.
Thought WTF? and revved the engine a bit to no difference. Also noticed that when revving, the revs hung high for a bit longer than they should before dropping back to the increased idle.
Switched off and back on and the revs were back where they should be, but engine VERY lumpy. Car drove perfectly when on the road though.

Put vag-com on on Sat morning and pulled two codes.
Revs too high and mixture too lean.
Called local good guy specialists who knew straight away.
There's two hoses coming off the end of the inlet manifold, the bottom one is a crankcase breather. It has a small spring loaded valve in it that should be shut at idle, it opens as the revs increase. The spring fails and leaves the valve open. Like having a massive air leak. Confirmed by nipping the pipe hard at idle and the engine noticeably changes back to the smooth idle it should have.
New valve ordered Saturday (was late) and picking it up this morning.
Should only take a few minutes to fit.
Trev and the boys said they replace loads of them.

Jase..
Cool

Volksparts Of Durham LTD. Best VAG specialist bar none.

Little breather valve looks like this.
Second pic if you look closely you can see all the way through as the small disc on top of the spring behind is broken.

Jase the important thing to remember is that a pregnant woman is always right. (doesn't have to be pregnant actually, but I'd look like a wimp without that in there) You must always agree with her - Except when agreeing with her would mean you are saying :
1 - You are fat.
2 - You are ugly.
3 - You are wrong.
and never, ever say yes your bum looks big in that..............

I'm sweating it out in the Middle East and it's overly hot, dusty with sand storms occasionally. If I was in England at the moment, I can think of nothing better than running outside in my smalls and getting drenched in a shower. However cold..

Hope that makes you feel a little better Smile

Well chuffed with it Very Happy

Next up, fit reverse camera and multimedia interface;

The multimedia interface has a separate feed for the camera and will auto switch to it when powered up by going in the reverse.

Also finally managed to find a compatible steering wheel control module for cruise, so with that I'll be able to get the cruise stuff fitted and coded.

New genuine headlights to go in tomorrow.

Noticed the other week the indicators flashing fast on the offside. Quick look revealed the front drivers indicator bulb off in the headlight. On a closer look I found some numpty in the past had completely glued the indicator holder in Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad
Poked about at it with a blade and screwdriver to see if I could free it up and remove, but it was well glued in place. WTF is with people?? Did they not "think" that maybe gluing it in wasn't a good idea? especially when a bulb blows!!! Rolling Eyes

Anyhow, looked about at headlamps and found them to be pretty available - BUT - in aftermarket OEM style. I wanted genuine and a call to the dealer and TPS shows them to be around £170 a piece. I couldn't just change the drivers light, as it would look a bit odd being new and the passenger light old.
Nabbed a drivers and passengers light off fleabay in the end. One for £80 and one for £65 (different sellers). Both BNIB genuine lights.
Turned up all ok and hadn't been turned into bags of crisps by Royal Snail thumbright.
Fingers crossed weather ok tomorrow as I've got a day off.

Is the damage repairable in the old light with it out Jas?

I quite fancy joey modding mine, but would need a second pair to do it slow time!

Once the old light it out and I've a bit more time, I can have a better look at trying to remove the glue and get the holder out.
I guess if you were going to Joey mod the light, then the blown bulb could be replaced while the plastic lense cover is off.

I would normally have kept them as spares, but if you want them to experiment with to do the black out mod, then you are welcome to them matey.
The plastic lenses are a bit pitted, though I know you can successfully polish them up with wet-n-dry and some plastic cutting polish.

Let me know what you think when they're out mate. Mine have done 160k so they're far from mint!

It would be interesting to know if that bulb holder can be repaired.

New lights in.
Was rushing against the fading light cos I've been with Allie for her third scan (all going really well) and didn't get started until 14.50.
When done, I nipped down local specialists and they checked the aim. Surprisingly were spot on thumbright

Old lights removed;

The glued in indicator holder! I mean FFS! come on Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Passenger side in;

Both in;

Random (I bought some Diadems for the indicators)

Will have a bash at getting that holder out this week sometime James..

Jase..

Damn it Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad What a numpty.
Washed the car yesterday and it was bloody freezing. So much so, the water kept freezing as I was trying to rinse and dry.
Got in the car to go to work last night, not thinking I tried to open the drivers window and Bang/Twang/Thud.
Snapped something inside the door, probably a regulator cable or something related.
In the infamous words of Unlucky Alf......"Ohhh bugger"

New regulator getting fitted tomorrow, £120 + the G&T from Audi for the part alone. Will also grab a handful of the door card clips as I gather these like to snap on removal

(Yes, I'm aware of the aftermarket repair kits on fleabay, but have been told in no uncertain terms.....they are crap and will snap quickly)

That'll teach me.
Doh,
Jase..
Embarassed Laughing

All done. As thought, it was a cable that had snapped.
Job done by my trusted local specialists (Volksparts of Durham). What a great set of lads.

Had to be matey, fast running out of time for car stuff. What with the little one arriving anytime over the next 5 weeks.
I also hate not being able to drop the drivers window.

Just for reference, the parts I used are as follows;

Window lifter mechanism - 8E0 837 462C = £92.90 inc VAT from TPS,
Door card trim clips - 8E0 868 243 = 56p inc VAT each (I needed 5 in total)

It was the fist time the guys had done a B6 front window mechanism. Took Stu about an hour all in.

I found this video on youtube which I'd have used if I'd had time to do it myself.
