I've had my most recent project for over two weeks now and I have to say I'm absolutely smitten
Its the best bits from all my previous Audis all rolled up into one
Power delivery is awesome for such a big car, even though its slower than the S2 it isnt by much, the comfort that the car affords in terms of its rear passenger comfort is superb
The car is in brilliant condition (which you would expect being a club car) Matt the previous owner has looked after this car and it shows, with the exception of a few knocks and dings which are expected on a car of this age its in great condition A wallet folder came with the car full of receipts, including some reviews from previous years which have made a good read.
The car has an amazing sound system, the best I've owned for sure. I've recently started plugging an MP3 into it and the quality from the infinity bass in the boot floor is sublime The system runs from a Panasonic Head and an Alpine Amp. I'm new to this stuff but it makes driving from A to B even more of a pleasure.
In terms of looks the car is going to be kept completely standard. I actualy like this one the way it is. On the move, if it wasnt for the S4 badges on the grille and rear hatch you would watch this car go by and think...well not much. its not kitted like a modern S model so no trick light or fancy plastic trim (all nice mind you) it look like a basic, clean, big estate.
The 16" Avus alloys look great, just a few kerb marks on the front ones. The Dunlop tyres are great performers in the wet - handy in North Wales I think if I went any bigger and started dropping ride height Id be drawing attentinon to myself and the car.
The only thing thats been changed on the inside is a newish 6 speed knob with white lettering which goes well with the dials (replace the old one which had chrome lettering. No other changes inside are planned.
The car already has S6 brakes, huge disks compared to what I've had before and they perform brilliantly, no vibrations and they bring the car to a standstill very quickly, which is a must really.
The turn of speed in this car is deceptive. Its so quiet on the move you have to keep your eye on the speedo I'm not kidding I have a story which I wont divulge on line about a run in I had with a new M5 on the way home from work one night, he was as suprised as I was is all I will say for now
Suspension will remian stock, the ride is to good to spoil.
The current 230bhp is great, there's an issue with boost at the moment after 5,000 revs but nothing major, its just lost its edge a bit which I think is down to a leak in the system under pressure - plans are to get this sorted asap and then up the power to a reasonable 270/280bhp just to be on a par with the more modern S cars. of course 280bhp from the 20v 5 cylinder engine will be the dogs nads plus I gather better mph (I 'm managing 26 mpg Monday to Friday morning and 20mpg friday night
Will post some new pics soon but for the time being here's one which was taken by the previous owner....cheers again Matt
I havent chritstened her yet, still going through my Star Wars encyclopedia to find a suitable name lol
Car will be making first appearance since joining the dark side in Tatton Park in August so come and have a look if you are there
Cheers

'Death Star' or 'Millenium Falcon'
Hi Dyl
Check your WGFV and all the hoses for loss of boost
The original gear knob you can get from Audi as a new part
Cheers

Nice, it's certainly a very discrete car, "that old Audi" will certainly be surprising a few people away from the lights |

After visiting Nogsports today a list of to do's is taking shape.
We think the drop in turbo pressure on 5,000 revs migh be down to a coil issue, so will see how this goes....but it isnt bothering me at all.
Nice to show the car to like minded audi nuts, it went down well with Eric pampering her with suds and sticky polish lol
I am absolutely smitten with this car, it has it all for me and after being in Alans S2 I can see the possibilities with the engine.........but doubt my stomach could handle 380bhp lol
I've read your project post twice now Beerbelly - loads of tips there matey and car looks amazing they are so stealthy
Happy days |

The last time I saw Eric - was at Andy's, had quite a bad mis fire - flat spot.
Got to around 100mph, went to floor it, nothing, coughed and farted then took off.
We removed the cover had a look at the coil pack insulation - was pretty shot in places, shorting across it was. Hence the reason I changed them all out for the 034 option.
Alan's S2 will be mental
There's a wealth of information here
http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/
Just a bit trickey to navigate around their website
Cheers for the comments on the car - just waiting for the exhaust and hose kit to turn up
Enjoy that 5pot wurrble! |

Looking good, i've recently got a urs4 saloon, having a few mods currently i.e. spare rs2 recaro's I have lying around and I took the ecu and had it socketed as a mate's copying me some chips to go in it, looking forward to get it on the road as soon as the brakes are upgraded. |

Quick update.
Working hard to solve the 5,000 revs 'miss' issue, as Megsy suggetsed its all ponting to the 034 coils at the moment. Needs sorting asap as a 285 BHP/440 Nm chip has been ordered
Regularly getting 30mpg out of her these days, that not when I'm tailing 911s though cos it drops to 19/20 then yes moved way up to porsches now as got bored with slaying beemers
Also been stalking a DB9 of late, just need it to rain on the way to work on a Tuesday morning for me to give Bond 007 wannaby a going over lol
God I love this car |

The 034 coils that are in it....is it just the harness that has been changed?
Or has it got the seperate coil packs like mine?
If the harness has been changed on yours, change it back to a OEM one and see how you get on - I no longer have mine as I binned it, it was in a right state.
Reading this you've just reminded me about the POS - I'll dig it out after breaky (doubt if it is this but worth a go) |

Like this??
Yeah does sound like a misfire, i've got to get around to ordering the 034 high output one for when the gas goes on mine as I don't want the spark causing issues as that would kill the engine.
list with mine goes:
fit the better brakes this weekend
mot next week hopefully
Full system made up for the car
High output kit
Nitrous
and at some point fit my rs2 recaro's save having them lying around taking up space.

Nice, they suit the car really well
Mine has got the S6 brake conversion - its excellent.
Its also got a scorpion stainless steel exhaust, although the turbo does robb the noice a bit:?
Cant wait for this chip to arrive, they say its going to rain next week so I'll be waiting for a certain car to drive by next Tuesday morning:twisted:
Will test the coils on Saturday weather permitting. |

Yeah should get my chip next week, cost me £45 to have the ecu socketed and £12 for the chip so should be good for 300bhp.
I'll see what the brakes are like once fitted, they weigh enough already. |

Its running slightly more boost than a homefries and gives a better kick in the back when on boost. |

Hi all
I'm flat out with work at the moment so not had much time to visit the site . Quick update on the URS4.
Now has black wing mirrors and completely de-badged, just waiting to have rear window tinted to darken the inside a bit. Calipers will be painted red shortly
I now have a 285 bhp mtm chip to go into her, but need to sort a recently diagnosed cam shaft sensor problem, which hopefully will solve the 5,000 revs PSI problem - car will be doing nogsports soon, need it to as I have etched an M3 cabrio number plate into my mind for future reference......it will be pay back once my 285bhp 100's on the power
Had a temporary promotion in work so working all hours at the mo to impress and improve future chances so will catch up with you all in another couple of months or so lol

i had that with the 1.8T, and much the same struggled to boost/wouldnt above 4500 on ours then it flew after it was fixed (also a remapped car)
Debadge suits the urS4 imho as its not the usual fast audi look about it. bet its great for raising some eyebrows |

Update on the :
Recent visit to nogsport resulted in real headway being made in sorting car.
We were rather shocked to find that the spark plugs were loose also boyo nogin found a 'wet one' which indicated that the coil packs were shot. Anyway we established the car doesnt have an 034 coilpack conversion , and the coils were in a poor state - brittle and brown etc.
Cam shaft sensor replaced, and a donor coil was spliced into place, so out for the test drive.
First gear went past 5,000 revs very quickly with no loss of boost. RESULT. Same in second gear - RESULT. Remember I've not experienced this car on the power after 5,000 revs, G was also in the car - he witnessed the MASSIVE grin that grew all over my face.
I've decided that nogsports is actualy my spiritual home. They have converted me well and trully to the 100 (they were the ones who made me 'go' quattro, and who opened my eyes to the possibilities the 90 had) same goes for my 100.
On the way home I started to appreciate the new power I had in second gear lol needless to say my petrol gauge was also suffering.
Back on the motorway and lets see what she does in the other gears. In third it still drops boost at 5,000 revs, but it now kicks back in at 6,000 revs same for the other gears. For the size of the car, the top end power in particular is bloody good
This is all leading me to believe that I need to replace the entire coil set with the 034 stuff, so its time to fork out £400 ish for this me thinks.........but shes worth it lol |
