Now I'm thinking this;

by purchasing a set of these from germany;

They'll need converting to a RHD beam pattern, been there done that on another set I once had for sooty project. Looks miles easier as access is way better.
Best thing is, they are in the OEM style, no angel eyes Very Happy

Those, along with piano black B and C pillar trims and side/rear window tints.

Hmmm, do I? or don't I.
I'll sleep on it and decide tomorrow.

Over to my dads today to give the soot monster a clean prior to going to it's temp carer next weekend. Be rude not to get some pics in the sun.

I've decided against the black Jim. Went down that road on the sooty project and didn't like, so that could happen here.
I don't dislike that standard lights, so they'll stay Wink

Ok, front wipers bug me. They look daft.
I'll never get any that'll sit right down like the aero-wipers do on my S2, the base of the windscreen/scuttle and closeness of the bonnet won't allow it.
So, I'll have to find something that'll look better and have aero blades too.

I saw a set of arms and blades from a 2006 Audi. They looked ok, well one of them did, the other being a "maybe".
Arrived today and one of them is defo a goer. The other doesn't go at all. Sits all wrong.
So I'll have to find another driver side to use.

Original;

And one of the two earo arms/blade fitted;

Rear arm and blade turned up.
"Exactly" what I wanted. Shorter and better (420mm overall length).
I would get rid of the whole feckin thing if doing so wouldn't leave a hole in the rear screen.
Just like the clean look of the rear with no wiper.
Shame, once the tow bar has gone and the rear tailpipes are sorted, a binned rear wiper would have been the icing.

It comes from a 96 - 2000 A4 Avant.

Before;

And after;

I have an S6 reflector, but I'm not sure I'll fit it.
The car being red and that rear panel being body colour, kinda blends in without using the S6 unit.
Maybe I'll have a trial fit in my summer shutdown in a couple of months.

000 998 229 turned up today. I'll fit it over the weekend Very Happy Very Happy
(once you are used to it - [installed on my S2] - it's hard to be without)

(yes, I know you are thinking "WTF is that?") Google it Wink

I dislike auto wipers/lights etc - no sensor can judge when to operate as well as the driver. But I think the three flash indicators are a godsend. Both useful and convenient.

Cars looking good now Jas, the wipers are a great improvement. I'm still pondering the dark lights though.......

Cheers James Wink

A rear wiper recap;

Original;

Interim;

And now de-wipered;

A lot smoother and how I want the rear to look. Be even better when I can remove the towbar ugliness and sort some nicer tailpipes. May just bite the bullet and replace the black lower valance with a brand new one.

Rear wiper motor/assembly removed;

The glass grommet;

Fitted, glued and sealed in place;

The front wipers I'm still messing with. I guess this is what good ole vagparts had to do in a way when they developed the kit for our S2's way back. It's just a trial and error of different later arms from various cars.
The ones I pictured further up just weren't working. I got another drivers side to use on the passenger side, but still a no go. Looked as awkward as the originals.
So spied a set of 2006 VW Polo arms and blades. The drivers is perfect. Sits straight and low down on the screen. The passenger side not so.
Going to straighten and shorten it at work next week. Well I'll pass it to one of the apprentice jig techs Laughing

Oh noes, looks a bit silly Laughing:;

Getting better;

Again, thanks to "dubmeister" for the heads up on the glass grommet Very Happy

Yup.

Installed last weekend. So flippin busy at work, tonight is the first chance @I've had to write it up Evil or Very Mad
Good job I've got a whole week off work next week. First lieu days I've taken since October last year Confused

The mirror I got was NOS from a seller who bought a job lot from a dealer, or something like that.
He's got a fair few of them. £99 delivered.

This is the second I've installed. Put one in the S2 back in 2006 (version without compass) That was from an S4/RS4.

This one is from an american allroad, so I'm led to believe. The part number does not come up on my recent version of the FA.

Auto dimming and has a compass display. Not bothered about the compass bit, I know where I'm going 99.9% of the time (to hell, or so Allie says) Laughing

Quick browse of the circuit diagrams in my haynes pointed me to a suitable switched circuit to tap into. Tapped into the rear of the interior fuse board "after" the fuse so it's covered.
Earth simply attached to an earth point on the relay board under the drivers shelf with a ring tag.
Notice all that weird grey wiring and strange relay? It's all to do with the tow bar wiring and will be removed along with said towbar when Audi get their lazy arses into gear and deliver me the lower rear bumper section I've had on order for a fortnight. It could have arrived faster on a friggin donkey Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes

Wiring led up door post and along the front of the headliner tucked in.

I only need two wires of the six it has.
The white and the black. Others not needed unless you want the dimming function to switch off when you go into reverse or switch the interior light on.
The mirror came with the felt backed backing plate, I popped into the FA and dug out the wiring/pin part numbers and the front cover.
Old mirror twists off the base (which is bonded to the windscreen - DON NOT PULL IT OFF) by turning through 90° either clockwise or anticlockwise. It can be "very" tight.
New mirror goes back on the same.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.
(ignore the four yellow wires, as said only two needed. When you buy standard wiring like that it comes in standard yellow with a pin on either end, hence four wires. I was buzzing out which I needed)

[Oh, yes I need the door shuts cleaning ok, I have to plan everything I do on the car three weeks in advance at the minute, and they'll get done when I've got time. OK??? Razz Laughing]

The mirror was calibrating itself when I took this, hence the "C".

Also, managed to get hold of an A6 C4 cupholder. It's the version for vehicles fitted with a car phone, so is shorter and only has two slots instead of three. But no matter, the other is NLA so beggars can't be choosers and does what it's supposed to Wink

(no can available when I took pic)

Rear bumper lower trim arrived at long last YaY Very Happy

Now I can get rid of the ulgly towbar tomorrow and then she'll be ready for the exhaust on Friday.
Booked into Longlife for a downpipe back SS system.
Still unsure on tailpipe choice. Twin of some description, but I'll probably not be able to decide until offered up to the rear on the day.
