Great minds. .........I have the paint to black the grill mate - have already replaced the wing mirrors with black ones.
When funds allow will also need to sort out some dark alloys need to sort the engine first lol

New pics to go up soon but in the meantime.............
For once I'm taking a long term approach to my UrS4 ........ I've had it for nearly 5 months now lol. Since purchase the list of to do's has been growing slowly, with some additions to the list which were not planned.
The car itself hasn't in the least disappointed and I've become a massive UrS4 fan, and my interest is slowly progressing to anorak status!
Having experienced the go kart like handling of my 80s and 90, I did have a few wobbles with the UrS4 initially mostly around bulk, chuck ability and shear volume, but this wasn't an issue with the car, it was more about my driving style. Anyway it isn't an issue anymore lol thanks to the influence of Bez and Nogin over a few bottles of wine I saw the light. B-)
The car is in amazing condition for its age, I really like the grey metallic paint which annoyingly photographs with a green tint!! It's spacious and comfortable and with sensible driving isn't to bad on the magic juice lol Having been reared on V6s there a certain skill involved in driving a turbo which I hadn't appreciated until Bez pointed it out to me, same goes for making best use of the quattro.
The car came with a few issues which I'm still working on. I guess the most unwelcome issue is the need to replace the coil pack, with costs ranging between £450 and £750 depending if you go for OEM or third party, to be honest its an expense I wasn't expecting. I guess it will be the 034 high output pack that I will go for eventually as this seems to be highly recommended. The car was advertised with the 034 conversion so I'm not sure what happened there............the cam shaft sensor was replaced at nogsport with the usual efficiency and this has resulted in a better ride B-)
The coils are responsible for a boost problem which has limited the flexibility of the cars performance. Hit 5000 revs and it drops boost in all but 1st and 2nd gears. Every now and again though I get full boost in the higher gears which gives a teasing glimpse of the power that's on tap when she's on the boil.
Chips, don't remind me. I purchased some 285bhp/boost limiter removal chips from via ebay. The first set never turned up and the second set were duffs! At least we got to find out the car had been MTMd in a past life, carriers had been soldered into the ECU saving me a job. So the standard chips are still in there until the chips guy sorts me out with a working set..........
Another job was to replace a knackered headlight. I chose to replace both the projector headlamps for the older style of lights. Strange you might think but my intention is to black or tint the front headlamps and indicators so the old style are fine for this purpose.
The only other mod to date has been the blacked grille and new black wing mirrors. The plan is to get rid of all chrome and this will extend to the purchase of darker colour 18" alloys in the future. It will probably be dropped a bit just to firm up the handling but nothing extreme.
A few days ago I tugged hard on the internal door handle and broke the mechanism!....bugger..... so I now have to open the window to get to the door handle on the outside to open the door from the inside lol
As far as the niggles go they can all be overcome with time so don't in any way detract from my enthusiasm for the car. The slight petrol leak will need doing first, then the rear calipers and then the dash rev counter bulbs in that order. Its due its MOT on the 16th November so we will see how it gets on there.
It is the best audi I have owned no question. That's a big thing for me to say as I rated Rebel Ship above all others and the 90 found a special place (not just the bridge it hit lol). But the UrS4 also has massive potential, my plan is to smack an RS2 turbo and manifold in there at some point in the future and get her up to the 320 bhp mark. Oh yeah I've really got to get myself one of those screamer pipes aswell B-)
Highlights to date include scaring the hell out of a 09 plate carerra S. My boost worked for once and well, its the most amazing run in I've had with a Porsche, I'm sure he would have left me standing in the dry, but he was probably worried about loosing her in the wet lol Oh yeah and wiping the smile off an M3 drivers face after a long running feud lol There was also a spat with an M5 (of the same era circa 93reg)and a certain black Aston Martin who will think twice before cutting audis up on roundabouts in the future lol
For the record a big thumbs up go to and in no particular order: Nogin, Megsy, Bez and Beerbelly who I would vote as MPs if they ever stood for parliment lol cheers ladies |

i am due a big and similar write up also, when it goes great guns its a f**king awesome car. does everything i want, the 90 wins on noise though and is maybe a little bit more chuckable.
I am mixed on the lowering mine is on H&R springs with a 50mm drop i am getting some rub on the front but suspect thats the bent bumper. does look a lot nicer lower but i scrape on forestry car parks, if the bike is in the car. which i must say only 3 cars i know of that can hold a downhill bike in the car fully built without removing components, omega estate, urS4 avant and the latter A6 avant. its carvernous!
I have got a spare set of headlights it you arse up the other ones
I got a fair raft of spares with mine when i bought it, give us a shout if you need anything!
Black grille looks ace btw, mine has black rings as well and from the front it does look like the death star... HUGE and menacing.
dont get me started on doors i reckon i can strip a door blindfolded now! |

Cheers Istoo
The worryington clang told me about the parts department which operates from the back of your UR lol nice one I say.
The only occasion my car scrapes the floor is in the local multi storey car park, so I don't park there any more or when I go to the odd show with the club which is maybe 3 times a year, the rest of the time its the A55 drag strip or the legendary and twisty A5 which I patrol which are both nice and smooth B-) . So I can afford to drop her a few cm's as I hate that gap between the arches lol
I'm also going to tint the rear window, did this on one of my previous cars it does the trick with darkening the inside a bit more. I'm also toying with the idea of attaching a 4light pod to the front of the car - rally style......would make for an awesome sight coming up quickly behind the next M3 I wind up lol
Chips guy got in touch last night,he doesn't believe me when I say the chips are knackered.....not sure where to take this now
Last dilemma I have is whether to totally de badge the car or leave it as it is. I've got the S4 badge, 4 rings and quattro badge on the back, not sure If I should take lot off including the grille badge. Quite like the look of Bladerunners ride B-)
New quattro stickers for rear windows just come through the post today B-) few other subtle touches to come also............. |

tint is long down the line for me too, it really cuts out the glare of lights.as most cars now (or up here at least) have xenons and its very distracting. Plus if i have the bike in the car it makes it less obvious..
I can try it in mine if you want to cross check it? OK miles away but can do it by post? unless you can find someone else nearish that has one wiling to try and see if it goosed. Megsy had a look at it? |

Appreciate the offer istoo
It was megsy and nogin who put them in for me, car would turn over but not start
At least the carriers were in the ECU so that's saved me a £100 at least - someones had mtm chips in there in the past, I know the car was remapped at some time, but with the standard chips you dont notice the difference.
Might have to send the chips somewhere else to be re-written if this Sjoer guy doesnt sort something out for me |

Nice one James
I think the projector lights looks the dogs danglies on the 80, but I've never liked them on the 100, they look just a tad weird to me with two pods on the outside and an old fashioned main beam pod. One things for sure the projectors for the 100 are much cheaper than for the 80.
This has nearly finished the front off for me and I've got the fog lamps on order for the lower grille which will add to the look I'm after. The fogs were in the headlamp which didn't look right to me, fogs should be in the lower part of the front bumper. This was the standard set up for the 100 quattro V6 range so its an easy swap over B-)
I've also got details for the headlight tint film company so that will be ordered on Monday, these are all cheap mods, the lights only cost me £9 each lol |

Right, projectors are back on the S4 tonight lol
Drove back home from work in the dark with the old type of lights and they were...........well cra*p lol
So, as the projectors were sat in the garage, I took the liberty of dismantling them and have fitted the daytime running LEDs which I originally purchased for Rebel Ship - they fitted perfectly to the bottom lip of the light. Taking the lights apart was much easier than I thought it would be.
The lights are better photographed at dusk so if the rain keeps off I'll take some pics tomorrow night. I have to say that the light that comes from these LEDs are really good - I'm well chuffed. All I need to do now is get the low beam working on the drivers side. |

Failed MOT today, was expected though. 2 fails and one advisory.
Last week I broke the drivers door internal door handle mechanism. Got it fixed on Sunday (bit.ch of a job getting the door card on and off) so good enough for MOT, then I go and break it again this morning.
Knackered handbrake due to car needing rear brake pads, not sure if calliper needs overhaul or if cable needs tightening also, will know more tomorrow.
Advisory is for front tyres, few more hundred miles of Jaguar slaying (my new hobby lol) and they will need replacing.....cue new alloys and tyres maybe?
My fuel line repair past the test, as did my daytime running LEDs, well chuffed.
So all in all not bad for a 16 year old car with 180k on the clock.
Totally de-badged the rear noe looks well smooth B-) got urs4 logos under the side repeaters and tinkering with the grill badge aswell. |

He lives!!!
I want to run mine until it dies, ie cant see a reason good enough to change it.
Could i see how yours looks debadged please I would be hugely surprised if you haven't taken a hill of photos.
Also got the same issue with the handbrake rear callipers sticking badly so I park it in gear. I will just go for new rear callipers and save the hassle of cleaning them. I have heard the cable can stick but its definitely not that. Oddly internal handles also stick on mine, specifically with the kids getting out the car.
Want to see those lights dude, i think i am going to HID mine they are just too dangerous just now, the speed of the car versus how much you can see... it needs better lights! |

Cheers lads
Yes have been away for a while but I always come back lol
The only badges on the car are the S4 ones, otherwise tailgate is clean.
Now have fogs in the front bumper and have tinted spare headlamp just to see if I like the look....which I do
Black 18" will go on soon hopefully, have got window tint cut and ready to go on back tailgate. Trying to get carbon fibre sheets which are flexible enough to apply to the wing mirrors and grille but might just gloss them black failing that.
Want to get it all done for All Types show in May if I can B-)
O yeah, nogsport sticker on the back takes pride of place lol |
