Lol I don't mind, its all good Very Happy

Well just returned from robbing the a6 of bits down the local scrappy.

Got the wiring for the handgrab lights
A trip computer stalk
pair of platinum sunvisors with wiring to put in my dads passat
set of window switches as spares

all for a low low price of 5 quid Laughing

Waiting for some chav to rip the dash out to make it easier to get the wiring for the outside temp gauge and trip computer if not i'll do it on friday (tho not the chav bit)

Tempted to have the window wiring provided it will fit my avant, gotta check this, I know the wiring for the plugs is the same its providing the wiring under the dash is.

Ok think I might give that a go tommorow afternoon, the a6 is a bit different in that it has some funky protective covering on the wiring making it a pita to seperate looms still i'll give it a go.

Gotta see what time I finish picking up my rs2 bits first but hopefully get down there for a couple of hours.

Been out earlier today whilst I was bored and wired in the lights for the grab handles so thats something done now. Was not too hard on the drivers side, passenger side was a pita.

I will try get some pictures up but the batteries in the camera didn't want to play ball.

Managed to get some pictures from the camera whilst it was playing earlier Very Happy

got these for on it when I make up a small loom to switch the plugs over from pins to spade type connectors then fit it along with the s2 bumper i'm hopefully going to collect next weekend.

Got the front/rear seats in already and they support better than the standard ones (also raised up the seating slightly Confused ) and look a lot better, I am still to fit the doorcards as i'm putting electric windows in at some point soon so can't use the cards till I swap in the wiring to get rid of the handles.

started wiring in the grab handle light wiring which is truly easy but a pita on the passenger side threading thru the wiring.

got it so at present on opening the door the front handles, sunroof panel and boot light comes on and goes out when the engines started. Makes a difference.

Spent a couple of hours down the scrap yard earlier trying to remove the dash from an a6, got it nearly out so was messing with the looms for the trip computer and ambient temp display.

the looms on that go direct as far as I can see, not as easy as say an s2 to remove from it, I got down to the fuse box but they shut the scrap yard (it was late) so I might go back sunday and have another go.

Its getting a new rear wheel bearing on sunday as its louder than the explosion from sooty when jas "fires up the diesel"

just got this for the car tonight Very Happy

just gotta wait for it to turn up and then hunt down a pair of indicators smoked (i've seen the autotintdesign and £194 for a sets a bit much) if at worse i'll grab a pair from the brakers and i'll give them a quick spray up.

Apart from that i've now fitted a set of s2 aux dials and center console etc to the car, just got to wire it up as I got stopped to fit the rear wheel bearing to the car.

I say one thing this cars a lot easier to work with and have fun messing around with compared with the s2.

Panel took around half hour to fit and makes it look better, i've been trying to find a cheap pair of proper smoked indicators but atm best is around £180 for them so what i'm going to do tommorow when i've come back from getting parts is spray them with a light smoke tint and see how I get on, if I don't like it then looks like i'll have to buy them.

Will get pictures up tomm hopefully as I ran out of time today. On a slightly off topic I started the day with 1 numberplate for the car, ended with two different one's in the boot.

1. was on the new panel
2nd was underneath the numberplate on the back Shocked Shocked completely different to whats on it now

whats this I spy in the back of my tdi Laughing Laughing

nice s2 front bumper with a spare set of grilles £35 Very Happy Very Happy

also picked up

spare as I have a set in the tdi already, was just trying to decide which one to fit to the car.

finally got some pictures up, i'm trying to find out a brand new can of tint spray for the indicators as a temp measure till I can get hold of a proper set but at £180 ish + not at the top of my list of priorities yet.

I also got a spare passenger side non ellipsoid b4 head light which I will sort out the other side then get them fitted to the car asap.

Also ordered a set of smoked side repeaters, what i'm going to go for is a black/titan gray mix. Should look good I hope Laughing

this is what i'm aiming for at the end of the project:

I've got the s8's for it already, hubs and brembo 4 pots Laughing

I have spent too much on what was supposed to be a daily driver.... after seeing the results jas has got Very Happy

my mate also done the handles as I REALLY didn't like the standard black one's. I've also got to do the side trims as it was getting dark when we got around to them.

Its getting there slowly Laughing

driver
4x tool boxes
4x doors
3x front bumpers (2x coupe 1x speedboat)
1x avant rear bumper
1x aux gauge set
1x center console
1x laptop bag
2x bags
plus loads of other junk.

car still shifts well and surprised a few people.

Found out tonight I got exactly 666 miles out of a full tank, scarey or what, it also ran out in the middle of wales o.3 miles from the petrol station Crying or Very sad

most of that was at 80+mph so could have been better plus think I might have a small boost leak.

Now have sideskirts and the NLA trims for the wings etc plus heated seat elements and a butchered wiring loom so i've got to wait to source the other one from another member on here.

ok no worries Laughing

@jas - yeah think i've got a bit of a boost leak on mine, I want to see if as we spoke about at adi its possible to do a boost leak test on this car.

What sort of speeds was you doing in yours to get that sort of milage?

Picked up a new dash for the car and yes it does have the recess for the badge behind the panel that goes on the front/covers it Laughing

we was right Very Happy

so looks like the dash is coming out this weekend and getting swapped. It took me 15 mins to remove the one thats going in mine so don't think it will take too long.

I tried following the wiring back for the front fog lights but looks like it is joined into too much. s2avant/ben on s2forum mentioned that on certain cars you only need to add 1 extra wire, I need to find out about this.

Speeds,? Nothing over 70mph, average of 55mph, driving like a fanny mate. Wanted to get over 900 to a tank.
It's possible, some of the owners who frequent TDiclub.com have had over 1200 miles to a tank. Yanks though, so probably drove it a straight line for a fortnight Laughing

Boost test kit. You are going to have to get some bungs knocked up. No DV to worry about, it's just a straight path from the compressor on the coldside, through the intercooler and up to the inlet.
So two bungs will need to be measured and knocked up. One to fit the hose that comes from the compressor, the other to pop in the end of the short hose that connects to the inlet up the top. Fill with 1bar and listen for the hiss.

Jase..
