Certainly did, bloke who lives next door to my bro's in-laws has a 1995 TDi avant auto.
Must have been pi**ed or something, could have sworn talking about your (now non) auto TDi when at Sal's last year.
Must have been those strong painkillers after the op messing with my head.
My bad.

I'm still not sure, already had 3 people asking if i'll sell them it as stands.
Tbh the luck i've had with audi's lately, I just want a fun car.
Been tempted by a a4 but the front suspension and bland 1.8 engine puts me off. |

I've given up on the "thought Audi never made one of those" statements now.
Especially after the two recent B4 80 quattro "without" V6's.
Oh.........and that well tasty and totally unheard of RHD S2 "Saloon" in New Zealand. |

You know what, I kinda agree in a way with Andy.
My S2 is relatively standard, ok it's got an RS2 intercooler, chipped and has Porsche brakes.
But it's a HUGELY enjoyable car to drive right now. Yes!! sometimes you get the thought in the back of your head "wish it had a little bit more" after getting rode over by a ballistic Porsche or similar. But put that aside, and just take the car out onto some lonely deserted country roads and pull it's hair out..........it a brilliantly satisfying car as is.
I agree, press on driving with the standard brakes takes some guts, they fade faster than me after half a pint.
But slap some 996's on there, even without going to the "waving willy" 323mm discs over 314mm.........that's that issue sorted. (Don't get me started on all this 8 pot RS6 callipers and 620mm disc rubbish, that's some seriously inadequate feelings in the trouser department surfacing there) |

Link please
I know of possibly 3 RS2 Saloons, not RHD though, thanks to Oliver. They were "apparently" "mules" for R&D......
You buy a car- usually to serve a purpose. Want a cheap Audi with good MPG- 80 TDi. Want something newer, maybe better more MPG, but higher running costs- got an A4 Tdi. Want to lug stuff- get an avant. Want to lug more stuff, get an A6 Avant. Want something quick for a good price, get an S2. Want something you hope will not deteriorate, AND have "classic status", get a UR quattro in good nick (just don't try to get replacement parts)
Want an allrounder, comfortable, CHEAP, easy to insure, tweak a little for "average" performance and readily available bits- buy a 90. Want a hack, buy an 80. Want something cheap but quick? Get an S8. Something quicker, more likely to need a dealer to fix (or a good specialist) buy an RS4.
All the above can be bought from as little as £80 to £18,000 - your requirements and budget will determine what you get. Now, compare that to say, an equivalent Ford... cost at least half the price in most instances, not hold their value, be less reliable, and more prone to rust. There WILL be exceptions to this, but comparing Audi and Ford is like comparing Bentley to Fiat...... |

scrap the avant buy a cossie and a floor mat and spend all year polishing the underside of it so that you and the 3other rs owners that can still bend down that far can see it!!!!!
seriously though stick through it i know times can be shit when something happens like this and you just want to give up.
My advice is only fix the avant if you have time and spare cash otherwise it will annoy the hell out of you as it needs your weekends spare time (i have 2im trying to do and with the nice weather its starting to wear thin and its meant to be fun!!) also andy has got a point buy a nice clean car and run it for 6months as standard then start playing and build up parts over time NOT in a massive clump that bogs you down.
this is just my opinions and if you want to fraud it up for a while go for it but do yourself a favour and get a new rs in white |

edit Andy's buyers guide:
Want a car that has huge boot space, flies and returns 31.5 mpg get an S6 Avant
(seriously cheap money now, have seen them go for as little as £2k under ) |

go on and fix it, you know you want to!!
I would happily help out myself, although must admit to never lifting a spanner on an older Audi, plenty on my Range Rover though |

i've left it with my mate, he's fixed the steering etc, just needs a wing and me to decide if i'd prefer this or an a4 1.9 tdi avant which i've got my eye on.
Problem is finding one with climate control, soooo tempted to stick it on this one and then fit aircon if its possible. |

unfortunately even tho the car drives straight now and i've got a replacement wing coming for it, looks like because i've got to mot it and tidy it up it will most likely be stripped as its worth more to me in parts as some are needed for my avant. Shame really but after the accident and someone keying the car I need to sort something out asap to get me around. |

see. compromises. Either get the one with the spec YOU WANT or live with the spec of the one you buy. Sure, wheels can be changed easily, etc, but air con?? That's a lot of pi$$ing around, more money in parts s/h and time to bugger it up, compared to waiting a month and spending maybe £200 more on "the right car".
Remember- A4's have the notorious issue wuth front arms.... said my bit, makes no difference to what you do |

Yeah i've been waying up the pro's and con's between the cars, the bonus about an a4 without climate is I have literally everything for climate sitting down mine, wiring boxes all plug and play stuff.
Tbh i'll just keep an eye out, currently borrowing a car so not a huge pita.
Yeah heard about the a4's problems with the front arms but not heard that much into detail? is it just they wear or collapse over time? The car I was looking into had already had them changed so didn't bother finding out much more.
anyone after any tdi avant bits
also need to speak to you at some point soon andy. |

You could save the "shiny bits" for your next avant. Why not doing a little tidy up and sell it for a reasonable price... I haven't seen an avant for months under 600! Bare in mind the price you have paid for it you could get a nice extra. Please don't brake it! |

it looks better in the pictures than currently as some kids keyed this car an my g/f's civic unfortunately, its a shame but some of the bits i've added to this will mean my next project car will get finished quicker.
Also getting a new car tommorow as I need something for work. |
