Excellent work mate! Keep up with it! It's getting tastier and tastier! Wink

Are you having something in mind for the engine? Why you need bigger brakes? Very Happy

I missed out on a a4 the other night w reg with a 110bhp diesel lump in it for £77 quid, both me and my mate thought it would go for more. I'd have given that a go see if I could have used it (with the added bonus afaik those come with useable trip computer) then sold the rest off to make the money back.

I want to quattro it eventually but with a twist keeping the 4 stud hubs for these wheels, should be easy enough with v6 quattro's coming up cheap as chips.

Another option for the discs is I could use focus rs discs as i've seen this done before.

There is no big diff between the 90hp and 110hp lump potential wise but the first step(remap) would go a bit further on the 110. 77quid for a hole car? Where the hell are you finding these deals?! Embarassed

lol it was a mis titled ad on ebay

would have been ideal.

you can find deals on ebay if you can be bothered to look, I don't go on there as much as I used to but in 5 mins of searching I managed to find that listing plus a set of 18 inch rs6 alloys for 0.99p and they sold at that Laughing

Yeah i've heard of people putting the later engine parts on the earlier engine but i'd prefer just to get a lower milage later lump and swap it over in one go if possible.

The bay of fleas... I could've think of that earlier. Laughing It's a shame that I dont have any trailers to move cars or space to keep them. I know that my time will come! Rolling Eyes Laughing

Of course the swap of the whole loom is a lot more easier(even from a passat). If you came by a 130pd lump that is the most inexpensive way to get cheap horsepower under the hood! Twisted Evil

I never knew that, is the loom more self contained compared to the other ones?

I've recently stripped the climate control out of a a4 for in the s2 when the interior goes back in but it could be tempting to keep an eye out for one of those, what models did the 130 lump come in? I don't really pay much attention to the real late of the line models so have not got a clue.

With a small effort you could use all the engines but easier from the chassis which have the engine the same way(straight). A6, A4, Passat.(i think thats it but dont count on that)
The 130pd(8v) engines are just later ones than the tdis and have more potential in them. They got bigger turbos, injectors, and not to mention the lover end which is the strongest from all of the tdi's. Avoid 115hp ones and all the 16v ones they seem to bee a bit tatty.

cheers for that, just chatting with a mate about them.

Also considering a 5 cylinder tdi, its the weight and i've heard stories of cams snapping on them, but 160bhp (chipped) is good Very Happy

You mean the V6? They got more weak points, the 5pot is a bit better but a 130pd gets more from a remap(its almost the same with a 150hp one so you could imagine what is capable of with a remap)

If you get a pair of the seats from a audi 100 2.8 quattro avant (if you want the same as mine, tho I have seen some a6's have the same style seats just with some wierd cloth trim) you flip them over and there is 5x clips on the base:

2x at the front which needs a flat screwdriver to remove
1x on the side without the seat belt clip
2x on the seat belt clip

then there is 1x 17mm bolt to hold the seat belt buckle to the base

then there is

1x little small silver clip to remove
2x huge big springs for the height adjustment, use a pair of pliers but be very carefull, don't want to hear lots of tails of I un-done the clip and took out next doors cat/car/child Shocked

then repeat on a spare seat with height adjustment and the bases just swap over, just remember if you're planning on attempting this to have a look at the seat bases as some do differ slightly as long as the base looks the same you will be fine.

I'll try get a picture up of what base to look for.

Previous owner had used a normal nut/bolt for the bottom strut to balljoint connection and it had finally worn thru. The bolt didn't have the solid section which is required. All that damage for something about £1-2.

Pita really, if i'd have known i'd have purchased new bolts for both sides a long time ago. Just seriously surprised it held up since I first got the car as the one on my coupe quattro went after around an hours worth of driving.

Yeah I'd just joined the a1 at letchworth gate and was in the middle lane at around 70mph when it just went, luckily the car in the slow lane was slightly behind me so I could slide past them to the hard shoulder.

Spent 3 hrs waiting for a recovery truck.

Best bit was i'd felt something loose so stopped at creamery court before I joined on the a1 and checked the track rod end nut, wheel nuts and top suspension nut (those was all I could get at, at the time without jacking it up which was un-safe where I was) and they was all fine.

I agree there, still don't know what to do with it, me and my g/f was trying to decide if I should have it sprayed as i've got a spare tailgate with rs2 rear spoiler if I want to carry on with the project I just really don't know.

Depends what i'm offered for it and whats out there, been looking at fords lately as i've kinda had enough with audis as of late. Only audi i'm tempted by is a a4 atm but the thought of the amount of bushes etc they have is putting me off.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

remember that Ford Escort "Van" you had before the Audi? I rest my case. The Audi's would probably be ok if you didn't fook about with them/ lose money hand over fist on parts you buy/ never fit/ sell on.

Have you EVER had a good, clean, example of a "standard" Audi you've not messed with? Start messing, pay the consequences... within reasons, you ok, but then you go off on tangents like taking a £300 diesel auto avant, then think about quattro' ing it, 5 stud wheel's, etc. I'm all for tweaking a car, and having "ideas" on where you'd like to be... but there (can be) limits....

Maybe stop trying to aim for the "can do" or "wannabe" or "trend follower" and just enjoy A car for what it is when it leaves the factory. One point I can mention to you that will advise where I'm coming from: Russ. (not on this forum)- regardless of who did what/ when/ how- his car is almost (now) standard, and the impression I get is he's loving it....

I'd make back easily what I paid for this one and the parts on it.

Yes i've had a good clean standard audi, in fact i've still got it.

don't remember having an auto avant tho Confused

Problem is as standard the audi's are boring, hence modding them, only one I found that was interesting as standard was my coupe quattro. The tdi was boring as standard, unfortunately the s2 seriously was boring (by my standard) plus you couldn't leave that as standard as you'd never be able to stop it in a straight line.

Coupe gt's - not too bad but nothing major, 20v's slightly better.
