Hi

As a few of you have mentioned before the demisting capabilities of the A4 is somewhat poor. This weather has tested it to its max. Anyway, I beieved my fan to be poor. My girlfriends 206 was like an aircraft taking of in comparison. I checked the pollen filter and it was choked. Considering I don't have hayfever nor air con it seems useless. The cost of one is £29 !! I took the old one of a cleaned it, it was filthy. I tried the fan when the filter was off and it was amazing!!! I was tempted to put the covers back without the filter but then debris would get in. I've compromised and put holes in various positions in the filter. You can see the filter sucked down when the fan is on. I'm thinking of replacing the filter for some sort of gauze instead to allow more air flow.

Has anyone changed or removed the filter? Does the filter perform more tasks ie polution absorption etc that I don't know about? Any thoughts!!!!

Cheers

Mark,

I changed the pollen filter on my A4 as a matter of doing a full service on any car that I buy. The previous one wasn't that dirty so can't comment on the pre versus post performance. (Even so, I am very un-impressed by the poor ability to clear the windows) However, I wouldn't want to mess with this too much as you don't know what the potential consequences are - I don't know whether the motor will get covered in any debris that may pass through the opening if such a fine filter wasn't there.

Just my thoughts.

John
