Finally took delivery of this on saturday after various failed attempts, blew the tyres up chucked some juice in the carb and managed to get it running albeit briefly, but was just enough for me to drive it the 40ft or so into my workshop.I havn't been underneath it yet but I reckon its salvageable from what I have seen up top. Will have a better look at it tomorrow hopefully

Nice find. Surprised

I am pretty sure from the little I have read up on these that the b1 passat is essentially the same car.

Dash is identical - Including the crack on the dash board! Wink

Biggest problem was corrosion at the rear suspension pivot point.

This car was the first I think I did a modification on as teenager. The instrument cluster was swapped for a GL cluster (with the clock in the centre and the fuel and temp intergrated in the speedo and tacho). I then installed the volt meter, oil temp and oil pressure gauge in the central consol.

Happy days

And the wet passenger floor! Think that was a loose grommit in the wing for the aerial.

yes she is a bit wet, unsure at the moment where it is coming from but will certainly look into that.Been underneath it today and it's mostly solid, worst part is the back panel/boot floor but for the most of it is pretty good.Even the brake lines are an MOT pass, I was expecting to have to rip all those off and start from scratch and I think they are the originals(appear to have been coated in something underneath the car).Fuel tank needs to come off as its got lots of shite in there but thankfully its probably the easiest to remove tank I have ever come across.
