Bumper and wing back from the painters. Not bad for a favour and bung
Painted in good old two pack, none of this water based stuff.
Fitting at the weekend, again and as always...damn weather permitting.

Not really on the body (although have Fee really worried that I am going to buy and fit one of these
(Guy selling is less than 10 miles from me too - pity it's for a B3)
On a 1.6 it would probably knock the top speed down to 50 mph! |

How much for the spoiler????
Those wheels- Zender proper split rims. Came with my car when I bought it. Didn't like them- Mike bought them- didn't like the handling on lower profile tyres, so he sold them..... |

LMAO, that's hideous
Update in the 4x108 to 5x112 saga.
It's pencilled in to be done soon (as in the next couple of weeks). Will have to take the car into work on a sunday so we can use the various specialist grades of welding consumables (tig) and the air tools.
Not easy by any means as a 108mm diameter is only 4mm away from a 112mm diameter and two bolt holes encroach on each other no matter which way it's put. Have had a good few of the guys at work figuring out if this will be safe enough, yes IF it's done right and with the RIGHT gear.

can you get "blanks" ?
ie. hubs without the bolt holes?
Or maybe ask your Paul if he can get some made?
There's deffo a market there for 5x112 (?) hubs for 80's/ 90's.... |

Yes, I had a supplier quote for a blank hub, but it's not cheap. The splined area for the driveshaft is the PITA. An S2 front hub is roughly £85 + vat each, cheap mates rates to me for a blank hub were £160 each. Material has to be right don't forget.
With that you've also got to look at removal of hub, purchasing and removal and refitting of wheel bearings and the rest.
Not a cheap exercise by any means.

I'm guessing the price for "mates rates" was only for a pair?
what about setting up a group buy of say, 5 sets?
Understand can use S2 fronts and A6 rears....
was thinking of options, thats all.
Any idea who makes the oe ones? |

£160 each, regardless of how many. They all take the same time on the machines to knock up.
No idea where they OEM ones are produced.
I have found these adapters though. After some serious and "Extensive" googling.
These I could knock out for a hell of a lot less than they are being sold for, at 150 euros EACH, then shipping (read heavy) from Belgium.
Problem is, they are 25mm wide, that takes a great big chunk of your offset away.

Have you read the full thread ??? Jas would be doing the work himself at work !!! so yes maybe a bit of hard work but at a low cost..... he is then able to to fit the the S2 Avus wheels to the car which dont just look the mutts nuts ... he already has a full set with good tyres , so no extra cost there either....plus being in the engineering game i'm sure he finds it an interesting challenge
You go for it mate... just make sure you get any welds xrayed |

You can use one of the 4x108 holes for your 5x112 setup and you should be ok |

No he can't.... the 5 stud pattern is on a different diameter from the 4 stud... thats why you see two circles in the diagram above |

@ Mark and Eric
Why do it?? why not??.
Eric? you spent hours and hours P&P'ing the head of your 20v, fitting a 20v into a B3 80 quattro, lots of work, why not buy a car with a 20v already in it? fitting NOS? why not just buy an S2?
See? same questions. Thing is, I know why you've done this. Because you can, you enjoyed the challenge and because you enjoy it
As Markyboy says, I've a set of Avus (actually have two spare sets + another, nine Avus wheels in total) with brand new tyres. The tyres on the steelies will need replacing in the not to distant future, I've a set of 17" in 4x108, but I don't want to put them on because 1/, they are too harsh for me and 2/ they'll also need tyres soon.
I like the Avus wheel and the whole exercise will cost me nothing. Yes, it's a lot of work, but it's work I enjoy. I'm messing about with cars
@ Eric, weather permitting, fitting gear on Saturday morning, that leaves Sat afternoon and all day Sunday to get the old PC on the job. New pads bought especially for the job as I think they'll turn a little red
@ Loco, thought of that, that's why I drove around for a little over a week with no fuel filler hatch on. Painter matched the colour |

Ok Jas fair doo's
But just to answer a couple of your questions.....they never did a B3 20v 80q at least not for our shores
Unfortunatly i'm not an S2 fan but i do like the engines, so much so that i may be fitting one into my 80 in the not so distant future.
I'm waiting to see how chez's fairs when we fits the AAN into his white B3 80q.
You is right on one thing, we do love it |

Jas.....
Will you be using the existing disc brakes or some from a 5 stud setup ??? also is there any room at the rear of the hubs ?? somewhere you could maybe add a little extra thickness ??? i can't remember how close the rear of the hub is to the bearing housing etc |

I'll be modifying the original discs.
There is a bit of room behind, but have not planned as yet to increase the thickness of the hub in the area behind each new bolt thread.
Will see how it pans out when we get down to it.
What Mikes says above is possible, it's only 4 mm difference, but I'd have to very slighlty enlarge one bolt hole on each wheel for it to be possible. That in itself wouldn't effect the strength of the fixing of the wheel, but it would mean irreversibly modifying four Avus wheels.
These drawings so far are not to scale. I'll knock something up over the next couple of days to see exactly how close each new bolt hole comes to the existing.
