I have yes. But he's wanting to sell a full set, I don't need a full set as the rear would be useless.
Thanks though.

Jas, is all the wiring in place for the fog lights ? Doesn't seem to even be a space for the switch in my dash!

Haven't seen many 80's with front fogs Confused so guess it's the 80 quattro bumper that is needed.

I'm hoping it's there Owen. If not I'll have to make my own loom.
I have no space either for the switch...yet. Keeping my eye out for a full width switch location panel and some blanks. Already have the front foglight switch in the spares bin.

"Apparently" the middle black trim insert in the bumper removes, and you get a foglight version which clips in. Then you have fogs in the front bumper like the V6 but indicators still in their present position next to the headlamp.
That's just deduced from these forums and other posters comments, no idea what foglight it is, if it's not the same as the ones we are used to.
Of course you could get the 80 V6 black trim insert, but then you'd have four indicators and the need for different headlamps.

I'm actually looking forward to the 80 v6/post facelift Coupe headlamps, the smaller version in these 80's are even worse than a match at 200 yards. Shocked
I have a spare set of ellipsoids, but they aren't going in the 80.

Jas..
Cool

Owen, found the foglight connectors already in the loom Very Happy One can be seen right down the bottom in the pic below. Just need to see if the plug for the switch is hiding behind the dash, but don't see why not.

Still not the right weather for anthing paint spray related, spitting on and windy so no go on colour coding the trims (booo).

Tidied a few things up, jubilee clips on the windscreen washer pipes junked and replaced with cable ties (they have a habit of popping out when they get old)
Chopped out the expanding foam that had been used to try and repair a leaky bonnet release cable grommet, it was covering half of the fusebox so I couldn't get in there to replace the dicky intermittent wiper relay (sometimes worked, sometimes didn't, leaving wipers parked anywhere they wanted)
Bonnet cable undone at the slam panel end, new bonnet release cable grommet slipped on and moved around the cable into position in the bulkhead. That's that sorted. Forgot to take a pic of the grommet in position.

Wipers now sorted.

Boot loom had been butchered by Sweeny Todd in the past, so repaired that today.
16 rolls of red inslutaing tape removed, wires extended properly, joints soldered and heatshrinked, removed a terminal block and covered the repaired loom in two long sleeves of heatshrink, cable tying the loom out of the way of the rubber boot seal as before it had been getting jammed in there, enough to damage it.

Nice one!! Like you say, if one end of the loom is there for fog lights don't see why the other end shouldn't be Very Happy

I've got the same tidying up job to do on the boot loom although it's not quite as bad as yours was!! Shocked

I suspect this is the reason my reversing lights are not working.

my 80 Avant had the loom at the front, but no cable/ bits behind the dash (never looked into it further)- don't forget, front and rear fogs as standard if fitted work together, sort of.

I've got the bit of wiring loom (about 4" length) plus switch receptacle. I could probably wire it up given an hour or so. No biggie, me thinks.

I put some fogs down in the grils on the bottom of the bumper on my 80 ages ago.

found the conectors at the front of the car but nothing behind the dash, ended up makin my own loom, was easy really, bit of time with a multimeter and i even made the lights in the switch work as they should.

I have a coupe now so already have fogs. But headlights are poor on dip beam. Will they benefit from a relay being fitted in the system? I have some decent bulbs in there already!

Thanks

Jim

I have come across this too in the past, i will assume that the loom under the bonnet runs to fusebox/relays and switch end wiring should do the same or similar if you were to fit it right Confused

That was one of the first fixes I did to my very first Audi - the B3 80 1.6e - fix the front fogs. Couldnt work out why one had an orange glass when I bought the car till I realised one of the lenses had a stone chip hole and the orange was a rusty film that had built up. Laughing Cleaned up ok actually, filled the hole with a blob of araldite, found a spare bulb sitting on the deck along with a missing surround in a scrappy and it worked fine Very Happy I had the bug then and started to replace loads of other odds n sods after that Laughing

First and only bit of bling it'll get is a boost gauge Laughing
Why not, the car produces boost and I'd be fun to see what boost it actually does produce Laughing

Do you want a set of 110bhp nozzles?
I will be swapping mine in the A3 soon for the 0.216mm I got for it.

Thanks for the offer Bry, but it's staying stock engine wise.
Not up for messing with it's power, just shoving the old crisp and dry in it Wink

Nah, I think you lot know me by now. I'm not really into messing big style with the engines. Yeah I chipped the S2, first set was pants (digitec) second set were spot on (MTM) third set nearly cost me two new cats (MRC)

The oil burner wafts along the motorway at 70 and it spot on for what I wanted it for. The work run.
I've got the S2 if I want a warp factor drive, and jeeezus does it feel fast and glued to the road after a week in sooty Laughing

There are advantages with uping diesel bhp through chipping or add on box systems, not only do you get extra bhp you also get improved economy, up to 10mpg with some set ups, how good is that Very Happy cost around £300 for the system i was looking at but over a time period you will get that back Cool

As an update to the biodiesel part of the sooty saga. I've received a reply to my enquiries at HMC&E.
I do not have to register with HMC&E as a fuel producer if I use less than 2500 litres of either SVO or WVO in any one calender year.
Previously you did need to register, but as so many small home users were registering, they made a decision that unless you produce (in reality, buy) more than 2500 litres of "biofuel" then you are free to use this as a road fuel tax free.
I'll be keeping records and receipts.

2500 litres of SVO is 550 imperial gallons.
550 gallons x roughly 45mpg = 24750 miles.
That would be 24750 miles using SVO on it's own, which I'm not doing. It's mixed at least 50/50.

Not bad.

Jas..

Should have run a new length of new loom on that boot lid, rather than repair it where it will be bending again + you would not have a bulge of heatshrink on show Cool
