The heater worked this morning but on the way home from work it wouldn't come on, tried it a couple of times since but no joy...
Any ideas what the issue could be?

Took the motor out again this evening and when i brought it inside i could hear a rattling noise, so when i shook it over the table, six 5mm in length copper pieces fell out, looks like if they were all joined tongether they would have fitted to the cylinder shaped bit which rotates in the centre of the motor, but i really don't know what i'm talking about!!
Put the unit back in and connected it up, but still not working.
Think i'll have to buy a new motor, does anyone know where i can get one cheap?

Hi everyone, I know this is an old thread but I just had the same problem and wanted to say thanks to all the previous posters for helping me sort it. Basically I started to hear the previously quiet heater fan and one day it didn't come on until I went over a speed bump and on it came (thank goodness). It worked a couple of times after that but still sounded noisy then it quit. After a search brought me here, all the symptoms matched and instead of buying another motor I decided to have a go at the brushes. Good thing too, the motor was off in no time and yes, the brushes were worn down to stumps. I cleaned off the commutator and wound the springs onto the brush wires a bit so the spring wasn't holding the brush off the com and bingo! Everything went as previously described so cheers everyone!!
