Is the adjustment/lubrication of the gear selection linkage a big job? Does it take long? Anyone have any idea what a garage would charge for the job?

Thanks for your replies! Yes I was stupid I should have used some PTFE tape. When driving about should the temp still reach 95c so the fan comes on if the weather is quite cold?

If the water pump and alternator bearings have seized and jammed would the engine still turn over? As the engine now turns over with plenty of power and quickly like normal!

I can't see any damage to the rubber mount at the carb, if the bearings on the water pump or alternator have seized would that stop the engine from starting? And also oil on the rotor arm?
