Typically it will improve the mpg, but you tend to drive it harder as you've got more power so it offsets it!

Cab's are quite weighty so they're never going to be frugal really.

I can't comment on the cost issues of a diesel in Sweden, but personally I'd avoid the 2.0TDi's (certainly in the B7's, I don't know about B8's..) but the 3.0TDi is the one to go for. Power, economy, ...

It's probably a Brodit mount, have a Google and see what it says.

B is the prefix for the model chassis.

B5's were from 96-01,
B6's were 01-05, ie Y to 54 plate (very few 05)
B7's were 05-08 (54's (rare) to 0Cool

If your's is a 2.0TDi 140 then it's probably a ...

It sounds like one of the solenoids which controls the flaps which direct temperature has failed.

They're typically about £90 odd, but you really need a scan to establish which one is faulty.
