I hope it lasts. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

I'd probably prefer to fit genuine parts or not replace it at all

As Mike_H says, there is a tensioner on the NG.

Helped a friend change his.

You'll possibly need a timing light after the change.

Coil Springs in Sheffield are a good choice and are well known.

standard ride with 20mm drop is almost a contradiction.

If you want stiffer springs you can still retain the same ride height but ...

it's always preferable to fit Coupe bits if you can. 80/90 parts should be a plan B if you can't get Coupe ones.

The Coupe was quite a bit heavier than the 80.

suppose it could be a blocked cat. Either replace it or remove and knock out the internals if it is blocked. Compressed air through it may clear it.

Adding the tailbox creates even more restriction ...

I'd have real issues fitting that to a Coupe as it's apparently for the B4 Audi 80 which used a completely different rear suspension set up.

If you are intending to fit 80 or 90 bits if you can't g ...

I'd recommend stripping the brakes down and checking everything first before replacing anything.

It's likely the pads are sticking in the carriers

Is this all the time or only from cold.

There's a lot of dampness in the air just now that will stick the brakes from cold

Just best to confirm that the fluid in the system is green.

if anyone has added ATF and the fluid appears red, you'll need to get it drained and flushed

Just to re-iterate Scotty's points.

The pressure (~120 bar) in the system is why ATF cannot be used. It breaks down and froths at these high pressures.

My concern is that the seals may have fail ...

The subframe has the anti roll bar, wishbones and gearbox mounts. Think it's only 1 gearbox mount on the fwd cars.

I've just changed them on my 90q 20v. It wasn't too bad a job.

you shouldn't be using ATF

G00 4000 hydraulic oil only. It's green in colour which matches the cap on the reservoir.

You'll have to get the system flushed

It's normally the element which gives up. A new glass is needed to fix

Bit of a coincedence for both to fail together but possible.

Pretty sure they only work when the rear screen heater is on.

You'll likely have to modify the rear floor to accomodate the rear diff / suspension setup.

Other issues you may need to think about are exhaust routing, fuel lines, handbrake cables.

Pretty sure it's part of the ecu circuitry which controls the advance / retard of timing.

I posted up wiring diagrams for the NG cab here:

From cold, the lambda isn't used.

The heater circuit is used to assist heating the lambda probe to its required operating temperature.

Is the lambda probe new ?
