1999 Audi Cabriolet 2.8 auto final edition

I'm selling my Audi Cabriolet as I don't have space to keep it having just bought an MGB.

It is a final edition in Santorin blue pearl with a black hood, it has covered only 62000 miles and has almost every option available, I have not seen another with such a high spec. It has;
- Electric hood
- Sports option inc 17" Bolero wheels and 3 spoke leather S-Line steering wheel
- Fine nappa leather sports seats in sesame
- Heated front seats
- Walnut interior trim
- Audi Delta stereo with 6 CD changer and optional active rear speakers with built in Sub
- Air conditioning
- Trip Computer
- Autocheck
- Cruise Control
- Ski bag
- Remote central locking with factory alarm/immobiliser

It has a reasonable amount of service history, some of it Audi and some independent. Since I've owned it I have serviced it myself and have done a 60k service and recently an oil change service. When I bought it I made sure I was buying the very best I could find. In addition I have spent quite a large amount of money on getting it to top condition, most notably replacing 2 of the hydraulic rams for the convertible roof which were leaking. As well as many other small jobs, I have all the receipts to prove.

It is the top of the range 2.8 V6 with a four speed auto box, it drives without fault and has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. It is MOTed until mid April and taxed until the end of May. I have the document wallet complete with the owner's handbook and service book as well as all the other guides supplied with the car.

There are a couple of bad points I feel need to be mentioned. The first is that the front bumper has scuffs on both corners and the rear bumper has a crack of about 6" along the top, although none of these are immediately obvious when looking at the car as not much paint has been removed. The rear screen has gone cloudy like they all do, I intended to have it replaced but I have got so used to it it hasn't troubled me. There is also some wear to the driver's seat bolster, the leather is fine but it would benefit from being re-coloured. Overall, considering the car is 12 years old it is in excellent condition.

Taking the faults into account, I am asking £2500 which I think is a bargain considering what I paid for the car and what I have spent on it. I am only advertising it on forums for the moment and I am currently not planning on advertising it elsewhere until the spring when the weather and prices improve!

Unfortunately the current weather means I can not wash it so the most recent pictures are from a couple of months ago, I will endeavour to get some new and better pictures as soon as possible.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Probably where they run between boot-lid and body- on the passenger side through the flexible boot - the wires get brittle with age.

It is possible to pull the whole loom out with a bit of work - you'll need to carefully un-thread it from the boot-lid and pick the pins out of the connector behind the panel on the left-hand side of the boot interior. Then it's simply a case of splicing in fresh wire where the joint it - make the cuts a good few inches away so the solder joints are not in the flex area.

Hi, aww thats great, thank you, I had 16's in mind, as I think 17s would be too big. Is the standard size 15? Sorry I oughta know that! Yes thanks for asking- my power steering nightmare is finally sorted, I am so pleased! I sent my pump off to be reconditioned and what fantastic service, collected personally and delivered all fixed within 2 days! Amazing! But then another separate problem - I found that part of the steering rack was literally cracked, snapped in half, my mechanic was baffled, I've noticed the steering was feeling lighter and lighter and a clunk when I steered in a certain way, I was shocked when I saw it literally sheered off. Thank god my mechanic sorted it within 2 days so it's back on the road finally!

I sourced another airbag ECU (fleabay) for a tenner. I made sure it was the exact same partnumber (including the all important last letter (mine was 8d0 959 655 J ).
Reading VAGCOM guidelines, it stated to write down the old ECU Soft.Coding number. I did this and then replaced the ECU with the new one, reconnected the battery and checked with VAGCOM. The Soft. coding was the same number so no need for re-coding and no fault codes
This evening it was working perfectly at minus 6. I'll leave the centre console trim off for another week or so to make sure it reliable before putting that back.

There is a good write up on this on another forum (it is for an A6 but the procedure is the same) : http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=1725059

What will go wrong next......
