A new addition to the range of engine/transmission versions for the Audi A4 and A4 Avant: the tried-and-tested 96 kW four-cylinder engine with pump-injector direct fuel injection can now be ordered in conjunction with the continuously variable multitronic automatic transmission. The first vehicles will be delivered in April 2003.
310 Nm of torque and 96 kW (130 bhp) accelerate the A4 saloon to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds and on powerfully up to a top speed of 205 km/h.
Typically for a TDI model, the new version is modest when it comes to fuel consumption: the A4 with multitronic consumes just 5.5 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres (combined). The A4 1.9 TDI complies with the limits of the EU 3 standard.
The Audi multitronic was designed especially for engines with a high torque.
This continuously variable automatic transmission offers the dynamic qualities of a manual gearbox and surpasses the comfort of a conventional automatic.
In conjunction with the 1.9 TDI in the Audi A4, the result is a harmonious combination of high flexibility for cruising along smoothly and a long operating range for perfect long-distance comfort.
The basic prices for the new versions in Germany are € 29,250 for the A4 1.9 TDI and € 30,830 for the corresponding Avant.
