At a recent committee meeting, www.audifans.net site owner, and Audi Owners Club co-founder Andy Bowskill raised the point of online memberships, and the future of www.audifans.net as a brand.
The site has developed- and grown- with the help of ALL users. The birth of Audifans.net came about due to a major server failing on the club's site, and has been funded since by donations and (in the main) Andy's pocket.
The basis was to make an online portal for all UK audi owners, presenting all the press releases when they arrived, combined with support in the guise of forums, etc.
Things have progressed- the plan was basically to use the site as a "springboard" to showcase what the club, and it's members, had to offer. Not everything available to club members has been made public on the audifans.net site.
So, the question to you is this:- many find the site useful, for the help, the advice, the technical assistance, the news, the photo's (over 10,000 at last count) and the classifieds section.
Not everybody uses the full potential of the site. Some only use the forums, which is a loss on their part!
There is a newer more involved version of the site available for upgrade. The internet is NOT free, usually a site progresses and evolves through it's users, and usually key individuals. This site is one of those- and MOST key indiviuals are heavily involved with the Audi Owners Club.
So, we put it to you, user, if we were to charge, say, a nominal fee per month for additional functionality, which gave you MOST of the benefits of the club on a monthly basis, would you pay? The option is via Paypal, at a cost of £2.00 per month. This would NOT be charged to Audi Owners Club members- they would gain the full benefit from the site from joining the club.
The differences between the two?
Full UK members get a printed copy of Audience, a membership card and a few other benefits. (Everything through the post)
Online? Audience would be made available for download (including the archives)- you wouldn't get a membership card AND your membership would only last for a month. There are other technicalities to be worked out; currently you register with Audifans.net and see almost everything on the site. In the future, if this moves ahead, you may not. Put it this way, £2.00 per month is less than 10 fags, or a pint per month. The savings you can get (one member of the club saved over £750 in February through club discount on replacement brakes!)
So over to the poll..... please take part.
(If you are a club member, please select "Audi Owners Club member"- your membership benefits will only increase.....
Member of another club? Time to join the happy crowd :D
